Risi not running LM 24 this year - I visited with Guiseppe in Spa last month, they are helping Luxury there this year.

I am so glad Allan walked away, when watching the accident I think I stopped breathing momentarily.

Only an hour into the race

As a Ferrari and Audi fan (see my LeMans watching headgear below :D) that was painful to watch. Glad to see McNish walk away and the 458 drive away.

+1; there could have been several deaths. Will be interesting to see what pics they got right before their "oh, sh*t!" moment.

I checked the weather and it looks as though no rain is in the forecast.

Glad everyone is ok! That was really close for some fatalities for the people hanging behind that fence!

Is there any way to stream this race? Europsport showed first hour of the race, then it continued on Eurosport 2, which I don't have.

Got to see the Audi/Ferrari crash. Hardcore...

He tried to make a hole that just wasn't there, very surprising with his amount of experience, endurance racing isn't won in the first hour...A testament to safety regulations that he was able to walk away, and absolutely miraculous that the spectators/photographers were not injured.

Rookie type mistake. Patience is needed in this race to say the least!

I'm wondering if he wasn't aware there was a Ferrari in front of the car ahead of him and thought there was a gap he could slot into?.

If this theory is correct then he wouldn't have realised that the car ahead was going into the corner slowly, biding it's time to pass the Ferrari on the next straight, he would have assumed that the car was just slow and so there was an overtaking opportunity. Then when he committed to the overtake, he realised too late that the Ferrari was there. After that it was: "Good night Vienna!" .

    Just a thought!.

For anyone who is interested, the Justin.TV iPhone app has a few channels carrying the race. Not sure if there is an app for android or windows phones.

Tough call. No interview Im aware of yet. Either way was a tough way to ruin a good race and potential victory.
