Well, bon jour French pit reporter. :)
While I certainly don't claim to be "an old hand", my 02c; - Better! - "Back in the day" an amateur jockey needed a pile of gold and he could get a ride. Even better was if he had the big $ to build a team to go to Le Mans - Pro drivers would line up - They all wanted Le Mans on their resume..... Nowadays, the price of entry is *huge*.... And the amateurs have good DA, good "coaches" (when did they go from "instructors" to "coaches" btw? ), live telemetry etc. While it can produce some great racing (and *huge* accidents), comparing it to F1 (which also currently features many pay drivers as we know ) is a bit like comparing the EPL with MLS. Cheers, Ian
According to Tom crash number one was just a racing incident. Maybe triggered by poor visibility from the AUDI's. They apparently have some "blind" angles. And the Ferrari driver may not have realized he was being attacked on both sides at the same time. Crash number 2 (not according to Tom, but two other drivers) was maybe triggered by blindness. Ferrari driver look up in the mirror and it blinded by the flashing AUDI and looses orientation for a few miliseconds when he look on the road again. The new lights on the AUDI's are extremely sharp and (again according to Tom) much much better than on the last model. And again, maybe an orientation problem for the AUDI driver. So the blindness by flashing lights and orientation may be the reason for the second crash. Both racing incidents.

WTF was McNish thinking with that pass attempt?!?!?!? He is a great driver imo but jeez wtf were you thunking man!!
Ferrari destroys two AUDI cars, Ferrari drivers in this race are lame the ferrari driver should have get his racing licence revoked. he could have killed Rockenfeller, what an amateur!
The second Audi crash was via the Ferrari driver. The consensus of the commentators/former racers on Eurosport is the Ferrari is completely at fault. Ferrari driver knew he was coming. The lights are distinct, and he was fully warned with plenty of time. He should have lifted just slightly to expedite the pass. No question. Racing incident yes but one that was completely avoidable. He should be out of the race and escorted to the airport
Ferrari driver caused the 2nd crash of the Audi has been excluded. Good call!!!! Doesnt help Audi much but at least they took him off the track.
I think that was the team owner driving - Robert Kaufman. Look at the side of the car - sponsor - RK Motors, check out their website, they have a ton of nice but somewhat overpriced cars. Warning: only one Ferrari for sale (F40). TONS of american muscle.
Pretty hard racing with just over 6 hours to go. Tough crash with the GTE Pro Corvette going out while leading with the Porsche.
Glad to see Antonio leading GTE Pro, Robertson's on podium only to other cars going out, their car boxed Peugeot during the night when they were right with Audi, disappointed that Strakka went out early and didn't claim P2 again this year - that's the best of the entire P2 group. Onto Imola - 53 on entry list - leading Audi here is not on list. Carol
