I'm so happy to report that phase two of this project is very nearly complete which means that the majority of the hard work I wanted to get done has been finished.

First piece of work was to attend to the air intake. I had the inner wheel liner off to get the braided hose on and noticed that the air intake pipe wasn't in it's proper place. In this picture you can see that the rubber pipe isn't fitted at the top, out of sight at the bottom it was worse.

After a couple of minutes of wriggling the pipe was moved into place.

I noticed that the offside side light was damaged. I suspect that the bulb was incorrectly inserted when the headlights were reassembled. You can see the lens was badly burnt - this was visible from the outside and not something I could live with.

I managed to source a good second hand one. They're not available on their own new, just as part of the whole headlight. I had to ring round loads of breakers to see if someone had a partly damaged headlight that I could take one from.

To prevent this happening again I put in LED bulbs that run at a lot lower temperature. I bought these bulbs and can recommend them - I've used them in my cars for years.

I thought I'd post some pictures of the car I've collated from an event called Dad's Day Out. It's held annually at Dunsfold (where Top Gear is filmed) - members of the public donate a small sum of cash to a Childrens Hospice and we take them for a couple of hot laps round the track.

This was probably the ultimate test of the recent work done on the car - the last bolt was tightened on Tuesday afternoon and then it was straight onto the track Saturday morning for a days driving at pretty much full tilt. Thankfully nothing fell off at the first corner and the car performed perfectly all day.

The weekend following Dad's Day Out I was fortunate enough to be invited to the annual open day at HR Owen (Ferrari Main Dealer in London). They opened up their workshop for the day and allowed us to bring our cars in and get them up on the ramps. I went last year with my Modena and was really looking forward to having an expert eye cast over the my work. I explained to the guys that I had recently done a lot of work on the car myself and that I would appriciate a very critical appraisal of the condition.

I'm pleased report that there were only two issues identified...

    1. Missing bolt on the undertray
    2. Slight play in n/s track rod end

I must have misplaced the bolt to the undertray as I didn't have any left when I put it back on! I will order a new bolt and track rod end forthwith.

I finally got round to adding a few finishing touches. First off was the tyre pressure plate - the old one was removed to paint the door shut and wasn't replaced.

Two things bugged me about the paint sticker under the front hood - it was slightly wonky and (obviously) was displaying the old colour of Argento Nurburgring (apologies for the poor picture but it was taken with my phone).

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

I tried everywhere to buy a paint sticker for Bianco Fuji but despite it being an official Ferrari colour (albeit not during the 360 production run) nobody could get their hands on one. So I decided to make my own...

I started with a blank PPG sticker.

I then got hold of some transfer lettering in a the correct size and font.

A little tape to hold the sticker to the desk and act as a guide.

    All done.

    Voicey,

I hate to do this, but I have to keep honest as I know you want to maintain the integrity of the car.

The 6.5" Kenwood speakers installed in the door pods are bad.
This is coming for an ex-audio installer. I recommend you get those out of there when you have the chance and get some class in there. Some good things come out of the UK when it comes to audio, so you don't have to look far.

I have been away from the forum for a while (just not got enough I know) but the upside to this was being able to sit here and read page 1-10 front to back in one sitting.
To say I am blown away doesnt even come close. I thought I had OCD but you sir, take it to a whole new level.
Your level of workmanship, ATD and eye for improvements are beyond reproach. If I could do half what you have I'd be happy.

Keep it coming, this is honestly the best "how to" threads I've seen on any forum.

    Cheers

    Thanks mate!

Thanks for tthe heads up - I do have plans to do something with the audio install in the future. There is an amp install in the front boot which is taking too much space up. I don't use the audio at all so will probably look to run the headunit & cd changer directly to a pair of speakers.

Thank you. I paid a fair sum for the mirrors - I can't say how much though. ;)

    Thanks Pap!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm only an amateur though and have still got a lot to learn!

Many, many thanks to Steve @ Joe Macari, London. I ordered a replacement track rod end and bolt for the under tray from him this week. The parts got stuck in Germany but he pulled out the stops and got them to my office so I can fit them over the weekend.

I also bought a replacement Glycoshell sticker for the coolant tank - big thanks for Trev for finding the part number for this - 171339.

Just a quick update - managed to get the sticker for the coolant tank on but first off was to fit the missing bolt to the undertray - it took less than a minute as when it was on the ramp at HR owen I moved the bolts around so the missing one was right in front of the rear wheel.

Next was to fit the Glycoshell sticker.

I marked the centre line of the tank and sticker with masking tape.

You know you need to clean up your engine bay don't you? Now that all the missing bits are there, it's starting to look old again. Time to start all over mate. LOL.
