Valve Guides: Steel or Iron?

    Hey guys, i'm looking at replacing the valve guides in my 355 and was under the impression that sintered steel were the best guides to use. But the quote from the dealership said cast iron valve guides. Any idea the difference between the materials and which is better? They also said they would be fitting 360 valve seats. This is different than the guides, right? Are the 360 seats better? They said they would have to use liquid nitrogen to fit the 360 seats.

    Bronze Manganese, is a "Sharpe" way to describe the best available. :)

    I have tried manganese bronze from Daniel of Ricambi. My mechanics was very impressed with the quality. Trying to machine it to fit in it's place was much more difficult than regular guide showing how hard the material is compare to a standard metal one..

    The machine shop building my heads is the same shop that built the 2010 Challenge Series winners for FoFL. They've made me feel confident that the 360 valve seats and cast iron valve guides are the absolute best parts for the job. Supposedly they are the same guides used in their Challenge cars. The Ferrari tech performing my major is also the race tech for the FoFL challenge team. I'm hoping i'll never have to take the heads off again!
