My DVR stopped recording the show after 35 minutes just when LH was supposed to pit. Did anyone get to see the entire program? I'm going to record it again when it will be shown again but that too is listed as a 30 minute program. Any ideas?
An F1 car is fast on a road course or on an oval. It may not last more than a handful of laps on an oval, but with the correct gearing, it would still be the fastest.
Well-said, I have been saying that for years. Your keyword of 'WINNING' F1 driver eliminates a lot of people, because I would think anyone that drove in F1 that also drove Gruppe C might do well, but that would be Jochen Mass, Derek Bell, Patrick Tambay types.
Just watched the clips on Youtube...it's great that they had a lot of fun and respect for each others series.
I had exactly the same problem - WTF?..... It's listed as being on again today, but as you say, 30 minutes only. I've just set the DVR to record an extra 2hrs (!) and am hoping for the best. Anyone that watched all of it remember how long it ran for? Cheers, Ian
Thanks - I should have a nice big buffer then No idea why the listing shows it (and hence the DVR believes) it's only 30 minutes.... Cheers, Ian
From all that I have read about the actual event it seems this ended up being a bit over blown. They didn't really push the limits of the cars. Just a big photo op. The MS and Jeff Gordon car swap was more like race conditions IMHO.
+1 It was basically two racers that wanted to try out the other guy's car. The weather was crappy and the track was moist, but that didn't matter. Each driver loved having the chance at something new and it looked like they really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with each other. The track reporter kinda made an a$$ of himself when he tried to make a competition of it. You could tell neither driver cared anything about lap times and who was faster in what. They were there to have fun. I smiled during the whole show.
Also seemed like there was too many press there and they just got in the way. I would have like to see teams and drivers only with open mics. Just two bloks having a day off driving each others cars.
I like Hamilton's thoughts on the Glen... Hamilton was impressed with the fast, swooping layout: The track is absolutely fantastic. It feels like a real classic. It just feels historic when you're driving around. They dont make tracks like that nowadays when they build new Formula 1 circuits, they dont build them like this.
Stewart smoked Lewis by 7.5 seconds by your contention then too....... Lewis and Tony drove their own cars when the track was very wet, then drove the other car in the dry basically......
I don't think anyone should be impressed when they said they were only driving at 80-85%. Thier times mean nothing.
This was definitely not a photo-op. Tony said he was pushing 80% of his ability and that the car had way more than he's capable of. He looked like he was really pushing on the backstraight, braking before the chicane...
Lewis wanted to get slick tires mounted on both cars and take them out again at the end of the show. Did Lewis get his wish regarding more track time in the Impala? CH
I think he still did great. We all know how difficult it is to drive an F1 car. You remember the rally driver who drag raced the Renault F1 against the Ford Gt at Bahrain? Remember what happened to him? He lost control of the car in a straight line in 5th gear.
doesnt TS have some INDY experience? I liked the show, too bad about the wet. on different matter, why cant the US, w/ a population of over 310mm, host MULTIPLE F1 events?!! Imagine F1 running thru the streets of Manhattan or over the GOlden gate bridge. So many great venues. Screw Indy. Just "merge" w/ F1. SIGH...
