Anybody have any pics of their fire extinguisher mounted in the cabin? Have mine in the luggage compartment but would like to mount it by the passenger seat somewhere. Just not sure how it will look or where to put it.

I have mine mounted in front of the passenger seat. It is bolted via a Porsche (Bill Kraus) mount to the seat so it sides.

Yup. Same bracket I used. I purchased my extinguisher from Competition Components. Expensive but absolutely first-class quality and looks. Makes the Ferrari OEM look like crap.

Same reason I got it. The construction and finish are top notch. Gives the car a very high-end look in the interior.

+2. I have that same Brey Kraus universal mount but have not installed in the 355 yet. I pulled it out of my M3 when I sold it, and the mounting hardware will easily adapt to the 355 front seat mounts.

I have seen most people mount them on the floor in front of the passenger's seat generally because that is where FCA wants them for their DE's.

I installed mine by using zip ties and connecting it to the forward and rear movement handle in front of the passenger seat. This way it moved back and forwards with the seat, never got in the road and as the seats are usually in the longest position was never an inconvenience and there were no screws or holes required.

I like this location. Really don't want to screw it through any leather. Also may mount it on the right side of the passenger footwell. Any 355 owners have it there? More pics please!

Scott, I didn't even realize that Ferrari ships an extinguisher with their cars?

    Hey that's pretty neat!

I got to ask. How hard is it to get the fire extinguisher from the ties? I mean, I wouldn't want to be fumbling around while my car or another's is burning. ;)

You're not worried that the zip ties break and the extinguisher becomes a projectile?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe zip-tie a pair of wire cutters to the extinguisher? j/k

Sorry Mike, I've been off FChat. Yes, Ferrari start offering fire extinguishers as an option with the 360 or in some cases, as standard equipment (e.g., 360 CS). Their are nothing but a medium quality extinguisher tucked inside an overly expensive leather bag (which is a horrible way to store it for access in an emergency).

My Competition Components (CC) unit is a polished aluminum extinguisher with a billet aluminum mount (which mounts to mount on the seat) and has a single black anodized aluminum pull-pin to release the extinguisher. I have a 2.5 pound with REAL Halon ($335.00) and the billet bracket ($140.00)

But potentially very dangerous, unless mounted using, e.g., aluminum plates front and rear to "sandwich" the rear fire wall. The force in crashes is amazing and you don't want a 4-5 pound, pressurized cylinder flying around the inside of the car. IMHO, it's best to mount down low.

100% true! NIGHTLIFE move that thing. 50g's is a 45mph delta crash pulse meaning your bracket needs to survive 250lbs of force for only 45mph! Also, you have to think about where your body bends to in a crash. A crash vector could put your head, shoulder or arm right into that solid object even if the unit stays put.

    Interesting.

My SS seat does not have that second male latch.
