yeah, someone needs to remind him he's in a contact year! he's hitting .179 with one HR in almost 30 at bats. the whole team sucks right now...2-5, pitching isn't there, offense isn't there, even Big Al made an error today against the Giants. LaRussa went off on the media after Wednesday's game. between that and the fact that I might get murdered at Dodger stadium I'm glad I'm not going to any games next week
Now that's what I like to see! The cards are back on track after crushing the D-backs last night. If only Albert can snap out of this funk he's in....but on the other hand, he keeps this up, we may be able to afford him,
15-4 last night against the rockies. THE ROCKIES! YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! you've got arguably the ace on the staff on the mound against a guy making his MLB debut, and you literally blow it! unbelievable. edit - i feel like i'm talking to myself here,
Cards starting rotation isn't looking so great this year; Garcia, Carp and Lohse have all had their issues. Lohse is probably the "ace" from a statistical standpoint right now.
i'm hoping it's just a 15 day dl stint....i don't think it's anything too major...hopefully.....how about the "shoe man" as shannon would say - walk off jack!
that was a great series.... I imagine it will be 15 days on the DL for Pujols. apparently he hasn't missed a game this year, so he's due a rest.

How bout that? Derek Jeter gets his 3,000 hit by way of home run, hard to believe he's the first Yankee to get to 3K
Good finish to the Ranger game last night! http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=16818511&tcid=fb_TEA_16818511&c_id=tex
Winning streak snapped. Well, they deserved it. Going into tonight, 2 runs in the past 56 innings. Tonight...SIX runs in a SINGLE inning.
Well, being Twins and Cubs fan (yes, I know having 2 favorite teams is weird, but I can explain) this year has been OK-ish for me. As for Twins, no reason why we should be so inconsistent, really good then really bad. If we not able to make another comeback, I'd like to see the Indians win the AL Central and definitely not the Tigers or White Sox, but never count the Twins out. 2006, we came back from quite a deficit and forced the Tigers to the wild-card. We're always a team that plays better in second half of season. As for Cubs, 42-60 but it will always be fun to root for them. I've only been to one game at Wrigley Field this year, they lost of course, but it was the game where Darwin Barney hit his first and so far only home run. I'd rather be a Cubs fan with very low expectations than a Yankees fan whose team spends $300M each year and anything short of a WS trophy is a disappointment. BlackBird007, I hope the Rangers win the World Series this year if the Twins can't make it. I will never root for the Yankees, Phillies, or any other non-underdog team. Last year's World Series was one of the best ever for me.
Rasmus traded? not sure I get this one. especially since we did it for pitching and got rid of two relievers in the process. http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2011/07/27/sports-bbo-three-team-trade_8588174.html
i'm all for this trade. rasmus had become a strain on the team - he did NOT want to take any advice from the veterans, the coaching staff, or the front office. he ONLY listened to his father, which is great for when you're in little league, but this is MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL - and his dad ain't no tony larussa, mark mcgwire, joe pettini, etc. the cardinals got some MUCH needed relief help, as well as an alright starter in edwin jackson out of the deal. this is great, because it takes kyle mclellan out of the starting rotation, where he was never really able to adapt, and puts him back in the bullpen for long relief/emergency starts. not to mention they got corey patterson, who comes cheap - and can be a solid fill in, but luckily it looks like john jay may be able to take rasmus' spot - plus cash considerations can help a lot when it comes to negotiation time with albert coming up sooner rather than later. a wild past 2 days in the majors - that ending from the pirates/braves game was a sham, where did jerry meals have to go at 2 AM last night? julio lugo was tagged out about a mile before he got to the plate. similar to the gallaraga/joyce call from last year, but WAY different situations (a perfect game has a lot more weight than a semi important mid-season game) and how about ervin santana's no hitter today? one of the weirdest no-hitters i've ever seen - an error lead to the run for cleveland in the first, great game though.
two things about the Cardinals that drive me crazy: 1) putting tons of time/money into a player that ain't paying off (Rasmus, Ankiel, etc) 2) not building a roster/bullpen for the long term and then taking these wild-ass guesses with players mid season. if they're gonna keep doing that, bring Jocketty back. so what's the word with Pujols?
i agree on the bullpen issues - they've gotta get something figured out there, especially the closer situation. i also agree on bringing jocketty back - but mostly because his daughter was one of the hottest girls at my high school, rumor has it the cardinals are stock piling cash - putting it away, i'm hearing 7 years, around 165,000,000 - one of the things they've entertained (which i'm pretty sure they can't do) is partial ownership in the club if he re-signs (but by the time he's done, he could probably buy the cardinals out right, )
