The deck led coming up may be caused by the airflow over it as opposed to air pressure underneath it. I would assume that the aerodynamic design - if there actually was any - would have ensured that the area above the engine louvers was a low pressure area at speed for good ventilation.

I did this mod several years ago to my stock airbox. I used pvc elbows in the duct going to the oil cooler. Oil cooler temps were not affected, and the car seems to breathe better. Looking at the air filter, you can definitely see that air is entering through the new inlets as whitnessed by dirty spots on the air cleaner opposite the new inlets.
And the sound from the drivers side is superb!!

Of course, there is no such thing as suction - just pressure differential. Higher pressure is pushing, rather than lower pressure sucking :)

My point is: regardless of the reason, there seems to be more pressure underneath the lid than above, and thus the louvres DO get airflow through them. And since they do, the observation that air is flowing from underneath the car into the engine bay seems valid, as the only other place where air could enter would be through the oil cooler, and no way would that be enough to lift the lid.

You are right, of course. What I am suggesting is that the airflow over the lid generates considerably more negative pressure than can be "filled" (lifted) out through the louvers. This ensures that the engine heat is always "sucked" out of the louvers at speed and explains why the lid wants to lift - because the louvers alone aren't large enough to allow all the needed air to pass through.

Whether this is by design or just an accident, I have no idea.
