+1. Penalized for innovation again. Lets reward all the copy cats. Sounds reasoning at that.

I think you may be surprised when the RB7 is still the fastest car on the grid... even after mapping restrictions. The rake, suspension geometry and tray design are still better than any other car on the track. They can simply drop ride height and swap out the diffuser for a more extreme angle and be pretty much back to where they are now, except with more drag.

This could be Pat Fry's moment in the spotlight. (at least I HOPE!)

But will F1 be worth watching?

Artificial rain and shiny medals will put things right no doubt ;)

Failing that why not run a race in Texas heat? Should be quite the show. If anyone, racers and spectators alike, survive.

It wasn't a violation so they can't be punished. It was a grey area which Charlie has now clarified...... ;) Apparently, the teams often approach Charlie about such grey areas and he quietly tells 'em yea or nay.....

Here we do beg to differ! I really don't believe Charlie acts like that. I do agree it wouldn't be getting the headlines if it were, say, HRT toodling around at the back with it but as they're front runners it's important. IIRC, he wanted it banned from ~race #2 but as the others were trying the same got some push back. He never liked it, never wanted it to be "legal" and is now laying down the law - As he's entitled to do as the Chief Steward.

Again, I may be naive here, but if I ever learn that "slowing down the Cans" was truly the reason for the change I'm done!..... One of the reasons I'm not much of a taxicab fan - They change the rules almost every time they run!

    Cheers,
    Ian

I think not. The design of the front end and rake angle is specific to the wall of exhaust gas they have built with their EBD. The RB will be imbalanced under heavy braking turn-in, which will not see a huge amount of the time (we won't see much of a difference at Silverstone) but if it were banned at Valencia I guarantee we would see a very different Red Bull.

So you believe 3.15 is sort of a alpha mode for Whiting?

You make a good argument, but of course its worth watching.
    + Points:
+ Mosley aint running the FIA.
+ More overtaking...maybe artifical depends on your stance.
+ Lewis and red mist, can he control it.
+ Alonso blowing his stack or winning a race.
+ Vettel getting the smile wiped of his face, or not.
+ Webber blowing his stack sick of 2nd fiddle.
+ Button beating Hamilton, or not.
+ Shoemaker winning a race, or not, or podium or not.
    + Nico beating the Shoe.

It's endless.... keep of my lawn...:)

Listening to BBC 5 live today a lady on Janet street porter loud mouth, she was bashing F1, and I thought she had brought up some good points, its just a engineering race, the BBC should ditch it.

I digress but I think a thread about, how do you justify that F1 is good and great, to folk that hate it, could be a good one.

    Here we go;

Which, I now realize doesn't cover the EBD either!

[I thought somewhere was "the Charlie rule" - Something like; "He reserves judgement in all matters, and may decide whatever he damn well pleases whenever he damn well pleases!"]

    Cheers,
    Ian

The rules are whatever the house says they are.

The fact that it's codified doesn't make it fair, or wise.

The, "Charlie thinks the teams are being too clever with their aero and are somehow cheating" rule is: 3.15. It's the 'no moveable aero' rule which allows him carte blanche

The question then becomes, who's running the house?..... ;)

    - Balestre, Mosley, Bernie, Charlie...? [Their ancestors? :)]

    As envisaged....

    While I'm not an attorney, 3.15 doesn't really address the issue IMO - I've edited briefly;

Why is the EBD illegal?....... ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Isn't it apparent that the inmates are running the institution? ;)
