    It has been a few years since I bought from a private seller. Previous, you simply titled vehicle and you were off and running, no sales tax. Is this still the case, or is Georgia charging sales tax on private seller transactions now? I had heard a rumor, but want to confirm.

    You still have to pay the "Birthday Tax" each year on the States appraised depreciated value.

    Yes there is no sales tax on private auto sales. I hate the Ad Valorum tax.

    if you buy in some window around your bday you don't have to pay ad valorem the first year
