I've now driven my 308 about 150 miles in small installments, biggest run was about 20 miles. It is enough time to begin settling in and trying to figure out how to adjust things to be more comfortable. Here's what I find so far:

    My feet are too big.

I am 6 feet two inches tall, weigh 190 pounds. My shoes are size 12.

I have found that with my shoes on, I am seriously uncomfortable. But when I take off my shoes, drive in my sock feet, all is well with the fit. I even pull the seat up a notch from the farthest stop. But the biggest problem I have with shoes on is that there is not enough width from the dead pedal to the clutch, even though my shoes are normal width.

Taking my shoes on and off each time I drive is quite a bit of hassle. I looked at some newly designed thin hiking shoes at an outdoor store yesterday. But Kathryn says I need some jazz shoes, whatever those are.

    Any different ideas?

Perhaps I'm a bit too big for this car, but I'm willing to make sacrifices, considering the pleasant rewards. Other than the shoe, feet, pedal issue, the 308 is a nice fit for me, though on the tight side of comfortable.

    Jeff

150 miles with 20 miles as the longest is not much of a time to get comfortable so don't be too quick to think you don't fit. When I got my 328 it felt the way you are describing. By the time I drove it 3000 miles in 3 days, from Vegas (where I bought it) to MD (where it now lives), the car felt "normal." So you may just need more stick time.

OTOH, you really may not fit. THe PO of my car was 6'5" and drove it all over but it truly depends on the relation of your legs to trunk as far as your height. 6ft with short legs/long trunk might be uncomfortable where 6'5" with long legs/short trunk may fit just fine.

    Time will tell. ;)

I found that standard width sandles, (bought for me by my dear wife) were too wide, I couldn't hit the gas without also clipping the brake.

I bought some narrow width leather track shoes that fit very well, were light, and kind of looked like driving shoes.

I wouldn't rule out removing the pedals and narrowing the brake and clutch by trimming the metal. To make up for this you could install some of the zoomie looking "ultimate pedals" or some pedal covers available from Hill Engineering, (marketed by Ricambi, one of our fine sponsors). Since the rubber covers wouldn't fit any more, you could trim the aluminum covers as well.

    HTH,

20 miles in a 308 is more than I can stand even with my chiropracter along for the ride.

    I'm 6' tall, 220 pounds, size 14 shoes.

I fit just fine, and comfortably, in my 328. The pedals are close together, I can't drive the car with basketball shoes on. They always hit 2 pedals at a time. With shoes like Sperry Topsiders I can drive comfortably. With Puma Future Cat driving shoes on my feet I never have a problem with the pedal spacing.

    I wear a US 14 Nike shoe. Am 6'2 and 285.

I drove a friends 308 many years ago and he suggested I remove my shoes, it will be easier/more comfortable to drive.

    And he was right. :eek::eek:

I wear tight fitting shoes in the 348 and sometimes I 'clip' the other pedal accidently. The 308 pedal box area is smaller than the 348. So I dont know if I would be able to drive with shoes on.

I will see when the time comes to buy my own 308. :D:D

I use size 13 driving shoes and never have a problem. You just need to spend some time in the car in order to find a comfortable driving position and it will eventually fit like a glove.

I found these leather Pilotis on Amazon (they were only $30 last month!). Made a big difference for driving the cramped 308, and I'm only 5-11 with Size 9 1/2s. Any taller and I'd have to have double-jointed knees to get in & out. I seriously don't know how big guys can drive a 308.

I wear cheap thin wal mart slip ons. They come off real easy, and when I get to my destination, they pop off like a breeze. Hey, in FL with the wicked heat, changing one's shoes after a 1/2 hr is a welcome! Fresh shoes, for another half hour!

i have really small feet for being 6ft,,,i have been driving with my socks on ., in the 328 for 10 years,,,,,its great,.,,i have plenty of room,,as well as great feedback with the brake and clutch pedal.( the go kart feel is amplified )...i used some velcro on the gas pedal..so my foot doesnt slide as much......i also have a feeling of sitting more in the car,,,rather than,,on the car,,,,i also replaced my driver seat,,,several years ago, ,,,the factory seat is meant for small italians ( been to italy...looks like a bunch of ants on scooters everywhere lol ),,,not american drivers,, there is absolutely no lateral support,,,,,,,,the difference is night and day with the sparco seat...and driving my car is so much more fun,,,as you can see,i always have my size 7.5 sketchers on the floor in front of the passenger seat,,lol,,good luck in finding the right fit..

I've got a pair of Piloti driving shoes. Admittedly, my feet aren't especially large, and even without the Piloti's I found that the 308 is the only car I've ever driven in which I could heel and toe. My Dad always used to preach the benefits of heeling and toeing to my brothers and me, but I was never able to master it in anything other than my 308. It was kind of satisfying if truth be told.

I'm using the past tense as I sold my 308 a month or so ago and replaced it with a 360 with an F1 transmission. So, no more heeling and toeing for me, and I could more-or-less drive the 360 in sandals, which is a bit of a shame actually.

I've had my car for two years now and 12K miles. At first I could not drive with anything but socks or bare feet. Now I can drive with my work boots without issue. I think my feet go sideways but it works without any thought.

I usually drive my Ferrari on my time so I'm wearing sandals, easy to slip off. I've found my accelerator pedal is rusting from always running bare feet. I'll have it powder coated before it rusts in two.

I've never gone more than about 850 miles in one day.

And surprisingly I find the seats to be great. No pain in 12 hour driving days. Although I drove a new chevy small car the other day and my back hurt in 20 miles.

    I'm 6'4" and was about 190 lbs when I bought the 328.

For the first few months, I had issues with my knees banging on the dash, etc.
Then I shifted position to heel/toe, and everything just dropped into place.
No hitting my knees or anything.

I can't drive in the redwing boots, but my florsheim "imperial como" mocs work just fine.
(Added benefit that the soft leather soles give good pedal feel.)
And the florsheims are dressy shoes, so I can wear them in the office.

The leather soles do tend to wear a bit, though. (My old ones are worn through at the heel/toe pedal contact points. ;))
And they disintegrate when they get wet. So I can't wash the car in the shoes I drive it out into the driveway in. ;)

I get spoiled by the pedal feel in the mocs, though. So I don't like to drive anything in hard soled shoes or boots, now.
In MA, in winter, I had to change from the driving shoes to the redwings before leaving the winter car in the (snow covered) parking lot.
Man those shoes get cold sitting in the car. :p

6'3" at 244 with 13D shoes. I have a few pairs of boat shoes that work just fine. No need to get driving shoes unless you want to pay the bucks. The only shoes I have a problem with are my work boots.

I did drive with a pair of pumas until I got more used to the car. Any of the driving shoes will allow you to get used to it.

I love the feel of bare foot driving. I can feel everything that is going on back there through my foot.

I'm a big guy as well... 6' 240 size 11.5 - 12ish. D width - and I dont have any issues at all. seat is one notch from the last stop.

if I'm on the track or up in the mountians where I'm shifting all the time, i move the seat up a bit and wear my racing boots... Old pair of Stand 21 formulas...

I find that the best way is do drive like a formula car with your feet as a fulcrum with your heel always on the floor.even with left food on dead pedal. I'm long torso shorter legs, so may be that is why it works for me.

Those pedals are not a problem, based on that pic. If you think these are "tight", try an Alfa Romeo Spider's pedals.
