I'm driving during the night and the rev counter has a unlit black background, and I want it to be lighted in the background to show off the color. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

My 458 yellow rev counter is very dark during the day, and with sunglasses on, it is barely readable. This is due to the long tube that surrounds it. The only back lighting is to the marks on the dial, not the dial face, and the back lighting does not seem to come on during the day even when the headlights are on. This is a design flaw that I don't think can be remedied by owners.

My rev counter is yellow too but I want it to be bright yellow during the night. I've seen it in a couple youtube videos but I'm not sure if that was the F430 or 458.

Read pg 133 of the manual. There is no daytime background tach lighting in cars with yellow tachs.I find it really annoying that I cannot see the tach during the day.Even if the head lights are put on during the day=no background lighting. However at night or pulling into the garage there is lighting of the tach.

I find the tach as pretty much useless. The steering wheel shift LEDs are better. But in spirited driving , the tach is useless, LEDs marginal, but engine sound and seat feel give me the most input of when to shift

I only have to complaints about this car, one of which was easily fixed, the other we're stuck with.

The exhaust valves should be open when the car is place in Race mode. I had a switch installed to take care of this. :)

The tach is too dark. It rediculous that they'd not recognize this. I can't see it ever being resolved. :(

Even the LEDs are useless. On the track I shift at 8500 RPM. The second to last LED lights up at about 7800 but the last one lights up at 9000. The gap in between is so big that I still have to use the hard to see dial. Maybe the dial face can be changed from opaque to translucent?

I have a yellow rev counter too and during the day it's almost useless - just as has been said before. I asked my dealer if they could arrange to leave the rev counter light on - but alas - the answer was, "Sure, leave the car with us. We'll extract the dash, send it to Italy, and the good forks in Maranello will make that change." I didn't even ask the price. I use the shift lights on the steering wheel. A must - but if I were ordering a 488 I'd go black rev counter...

Mine's white and light is feeble at best. Very hard to see at night, no problem during the day. LEDs on the steering wheel on at all times. My guess is that the black rev counter is the best of all in terms of visibility at night.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Same here - White tach on my 458 drove me nuts. Black tach on my 488; problem solved and beautifully illuminated day or night.
