    Hi all,

I need a spare set of wheels. If anyone has any they want to part with let me know.

Ugly ... fine, need refinishing ... fine. I "think" I want 16's because I have several sets of tires for that size but that's not a deal breaker.

    NO TRX's.

If I can't come up with anything here I'll order some from SP along with a bunch of other goodies I need ... was hoping to have some for next weekend ... last minute I know.

    Cheers all,

    Sean

set of 360 wheels available local which reminded me I have some 348 wheels.

I know they won't look right but should they work?

    cheers

I checked the 348 wheels. I'd need longer bolts plus I don't have much in the way of 17" tires.

So I think I'd prefer 16's of "any style" if someone has a set they're tired of tripping over and/or moving out of the way :).

    cheers all,

    Sean

I'm not sure if these will work ... for $85/wheel for what I need to do right now might be worth a shot.

    http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&initialPartNumber=KSE552276S&wheelMake=Sport+Edition&wheelModel=F7&wheelFinish=Silver+Painted&showRear=no&autoMake=Volvo&autoModel=V70&autoYear=1998&autoModClar=&filterFinish=All&filterSize=16&filterBrand=All&filterSpecial=false&filterNew=All&filterWeight=All&sort=Brand

They're for Volvo ... spacing 5-108. Somone chime in if they know that. I'll do a quick search also. I think someone on here used a wheel like this?

    cheers

Works for me, for example there is a set of Novitec 20/21 inch wheels for $10500, tires included.

Okay that's the lug spacing ... sorry to add another wheel thread ... I realize they're like cam belt threads!

Man there are a ton of wheels available ... from conservative (what I want) to full on bling!

    cheers

Yes, Volvo and some Citroën and/or Peugeot also have the 5x108 pattern for the larger models. There was a pic here of a Volvo with 308 wheels, looked very cool. But the 308 needs a low offset of +11 (zero offset looks even better) and most modern cars/wheels have a much larger offset, those cheap Volvo wheels have +40, if it just for moving the car around no problem, also you have to check the center hole, no problem for you probably to enlarge it to 58 (308 front) and 67 (308 rear) or to make centering rings if the Volvo wheels have a larger than 67 center hole (not likely)

I recently bought a set of 10x17 and 8.5x17 5x112 wheels for another car, and I´m thinking of drilling an extra 5x112 M12x1.25 pattern on the hubs of the 308, 36 degrees offset to the original 5x108 pattern (there is room), so I can mount these other wheels for moving the car about and easy test driving.

You clarified my thought before I asked it.

There was also a lug bolt source on here someone shared. I wonder if the taper on the bolt is the same as standard lug nuts? I'm sure that's been asked. The 348 lug bolts are way longer ... they might work but don't know about the taper. I guess I'll go look at a generic lug nut and compare it to a Ferrari bolt.

    cheers

I need to get thru tech with some tires that have a ton of rubber but no grip. I'll probably do a few runs with them. I think they'd flunk me for 5 extra holes but thanks for the suggestion if I'm in a bind :). Hopefully the quality isn't so low on those cheapy wheels that it's unsafe to autocross with low grip street tires but I'd be all ears if someone thinks so. Those are 205/55/16 all the way around.

My normal tires (larger than above) have an edge worn down but I rotated them on the rim and still have a pretty good amount of meat on the inside shoulder and center. I don't want to go all the way down to the autocross and be turned away for something so basic.

    cheers

An extra complication is that the 308 has very thick front brake disc centers, I think 18 mm and much thinner in the back, 8 mm if I remember correctly. As the wheel bolts go through the discs, you always need 10 mm longer bolts in front.
In the past I thought about getting some steel Volvo wheels, and have them rewelded to like 8x15 and 10x15 with balloon tires, just to offend the crowd hehe.

    Yep.

lots of good info in that thread ... nowhere near the selection of wheels with 20mm offset vs. later Volvo with 40 mm offset.

steel wheels ... hmm ... isn't there some company in the U.S. that builds those for the track? They'd look "different" painted gold :).

    cheers

    Hey Luckydynes,

I have been thinking about selling my track wheels mounted with old Hoosiers. They are a perfect set of QV wheels, refinished in magnesium look gold w satin clearcoat. They were polished at one time, so the FERRARI 8J X 16 etc. raised lettering is gone, so they are not gonna fetch $3k+ for a concours car.

I'm thinking I want to go 17 or 18" so I can have more tire choice myself. Since the slicks are old and I have Brigestone pole positions on the street wheels, I don't track these anymore. The slicks have a ton of rubber left, and they still get hot and sticky, just high speed on 2002 date stamp worries me....

I have 2k plus sweat equity in the wheels, Hoosiers were a gift from Pen P.
    Pic below.

    Make me an offer ??

I think BIgtex has a set of 16" lightweight BBS honeycomb rims....... Should make for a nice drop in rotating mass if you can get your hands on them.

Dude I luv the gold too ... hmm ... you need to advertise a business or anything? ... they would be a great contribution to "the team" :).

I wish I could make you a serious offer but I need to put the money towards other things right now :(. If you consider a totally low ball offer coupled with free advertising on my car shoot me a PM :).

Here's my latest plan. These tires look like they would be a good compromise. Not as sticky as Hoosier and not 245-45-16 tire size but 225-50-16 tire size and 140 tread rating. $104/pc.

    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+R-S3&partnum=25WR6Z222&i1_Qty=4

Any experience with these Hankook Ventus R-S3 (140 tread rating) vs. Toyo T1R (280 tread rating ... I hope trailer tires in comparison to the Hankook)?

    cheers

    Sean,

I've got a set of 15" three-piece rims that I am no longer using and that I could say goodbye to for little money, tires included (Toyo Proxes).

Don't have any pics here at work, and will be home rather late tonight. If I remember, I'll post them tonight.

    Late to the thread!!!

Yes in fact I do, it's in my garage under parts...

There was a similar set in FerrariAds also, recently.
    Are they still there?

I think they were $850 with tires.....

No Project Masters can get in. I had Rob take a look at it and he couldn't figure it out either.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the replies and input. I've bought the Hankook Ventus that I referred to above for $104/tire. The only bummer is they didn't have 245/45-16 so I went with 220/50-16. The difference in grip from the compound should make up for the size ... 280 tread wear on the Toyo vs. 140 on the Hankook.

I held off on buying the China wheels and making spacers, etc. I would sooner put money towards something used that's quality like what you guys have kicking around. Hopefully it'll be in a month or 2.

    cheers all,

    Sean

Haven't tried their Ferrari wheels, but have been pleased with a variety of others....Braid.es....and pricing, not bad, even with freight to this backwater.
