What happens to the depreciation curve of the 430 spyder when the 458 spyder gets released? Yes it will be in top demand for some time, but unlike the 360 to 430 transition the cars are visibly different too.

I believe it will help the 430 for a while. $350k for the 458 spider will keep the 430 in the range that it is in + some people prefer looks of the 430. Half price for a 430 spider from a 458 seems like a good deal - right?

At the current moment a 430 spider is roughly 2x the price of a 360spider. $150 vs $75 (roughly), and then I guess the 458 will be 2x the price of the 430 therefore making it 4x the price of a 360...... I hope it is 4x as good

That seems very credible and thoughtful. Thank you.

(basically, I am trying to convince myself to get both a California and a nice 430 spyder I found)

Buy what you can afford, if the depreciation is a concern then don't buy either one.

The curve is whatever. Buy the car(s) and run the **** out of them. Worry about selling when selling. You won't regret it :)

I partially disagree. While time is the main factor of depreciation, I think there is another factor to consider. The people who will buy the 458 spider. One would believe that the buyers of the 458 spider are most likely going to be comprised of two groups: current 458 owners and F430 spider owners. If that's the case, they there may be more depreciation on the F430 spider due to the amount of F430 spiders available for sale but this is all speculation about buying behaviors. Nothing is certain in this topic area.

I agree 100%. Mine will be worth what it's worth when I move on to the next one. I don't spend any time thinking about what that figure will be.

I agree with Castrol: it depends on what gets sold in order to buy 458 Spiders. Look at the Scud, it got pummeled when the 458 arrived while the 430 wasn't hit nearly as hard. Thats because the type of person who would buy the Scud was also the target demographic of the 458. I think current 458, 430 Spider and possibly some California owners are likely candidates...
