Ok with all the history of threads here I am sure I just missed it but I did search before asking this. I have had my 355 for several years and never have I seen or notice a Red warning light in my Drivers side dash air vent. It looks exactly like the alarm light in the center air vents but like I said this one is in the drivers side vent. I has come on twice and stays on for two of the last three times I have driven my car. What is it? The car seems to be running just fine and no strange noises or instrument readings. I should probably just look for it in the owners manual but I thought someone could save me the time. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Robbie. Now I am even more confused than ever. I don't know of anything other than my Radar detector that is aftermarket installed and it is under the radio so I have no idea why this red light exist. Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to try and follow some wiring.

It is the cam belt & tensioner warning light.

When it goes OUT ....... "Rut-Ro Raggy !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

[said in my best Scooby Doo voice]. :D

    ... your belt comes off.

Seriously, in my 308 I discovered an aftermarket antitheft alarm unit buried way up high under/behind the dash. Without putting my head against the gas peddle looking for something else (a dropped screw) I would have NEVER seen/found it. How they got it up in there I have NO IDEA. I took several hours over a couple of days to slowly work my hand up there, cut the wires, and fish it out.

They mounted the "Alarm Activated 'On-Lamp' " low and between the Oil Temp Gauge and Clock on the center tunnel.

Maybe yours is just a better hidden "goodie" (signal light?) than mine was, so as to not disturb the natural athetics of the interior.

Good Luck and, let us know what you find out.

Thanks a lot. Cruel and unusual comments/punishment :)

I haven't taken the time yet to follow the trail but I will post a pic or two when I get to the source.

I just hope I don't follow a trail to the belt tensioners :D

:) funny you resurrected this I have the pics at home of the light. I am going to post them. I kind of forgot about the brothel in my car. I never did figure it out. I replaced my battery and the light went out and hasn't come back on.

Looks like the supplemental LED that comes with the Escort hidden radar detector systems.

Does it light up just red, or red and green? If it's Escort, it'll be green when no radar/laser signals are present, then red when something is detected.

No green at all! It has never come on in 4 years of owning the car until just a few months ago. Funny thing was the battery started going bad and the engine was turning over slow shortly after the light started coming on. I put in a new optima battery and it hasn't come back on at all since. It has been about three months now.

    Warp Drive Indicator, for sure.

All you need to do is locate the "On" switch now.

Speaking of which, the vent, not the light.

What's the best way of removing that vent?

I know some of you sticky removers must know this.

    Thanks,

    Kai

Most likely an after market LED indicator of some kind. Also very likely that the system is disabled since you don't have any problems with it. The fact that it came back when the battery was low and acting up confirms how unpredictable analog electronics are in out-of-bound situations. Now that the battery is good and it has not come back on, forget it and move on.

The vent basically lifts up and out. It has a couple of tangs to hold it in but they are not hooks. Just carefully pry up on it and it will pop out. ;)

I think I will just call it my low battery indicator light. It is a limited edition and one of a kind installation. Robbie can I add that to my registry description? :D
