    Hi All,

I am looking for the following:

    http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=202900

Its a $5 part, but the UK seemingly don't hold stock anywhere and Ricambi are refusing to send it to the UK anything less than UPS or FedEx at $54! Obviously being a $5 sticker, I wrongly assumed they may be flexible and send airmail as I don't require a specially timed delivery, it's more of a nice to have...

It's about $6 postage in the US.

Would anybody be kind enough to order it for me and post on to me in the UK? I can pay via paypal if this is ok if you give me the cost that includes the postage on to the UK, standard airmail letter is fine!

    Thanks in advance!

    Paul

    Really?

Every time we try to postal mail (cheap) something for a customer who claims "time doesn't matter", suddenly when the delivery takes longer than they wanted, they cancel the charges on their card and claim we're crooks. It gets old really fast.

I have sadly learned the lesson "no good deed goes unpunished". I'll bet many other small business owners would agree.

I'm sorry if you think this policy is directed toward you. It is not. It is the end result of having tried this scenario many times before, and almost NEVER coming out ahead with even a modicum of profit.

Thanks Pap! Fingers crossed... Just one of those small things i've been looking for for a while, the other one has completely fallen apart and looks a mess. I know it's not exactly crucial, just nice to keep it as it was and looking tidy. I'm not one of these 'completely as it left the factory' kind of owners, just suffer from OCD!!!

    Well said Jack.

In our business I learned long ago that no good deed goes unpunished; so true.

Every once in awhile though, I still go out of my way for someone low on cash or in a tight spot with their car, human nature I guess. But it always ends with me wondering why I just didn't tell them to go somewhere else . . .

    Yes, really...?

I would like to think I don't fall under the umbrella of the kind of person that trys to cancel payments after a purchase, especially after an agreement is reached, I guess thats called trust..

A replacement tyre pressure sticker doesn't need to arrive on my doormat in 6 days, just sometime, anytime, more happy to find the part is still available which I was told wasn't the case over here.

I'm happy to pay the going rate, but equally, overpaying as a result of others dishonesty isn't something i'm so keen on.

I see your point Paul, but keep in mind Ricambi has a lot of street cred here, not to mention they pick up a lot of sponsorship. Daniel is a top shelf supplier who needs to protect his business by making sure people get what they order in a timely fashion. He has given you his reason for the shipping cost. Why not call him and ask him directly for the regular mail service or make some other type of deal rather than make this issue public? I am sure if you excepted the pit falls of regular mail he may help you. Just .02

I think this has been completely mis-construed. What 'issue' am I 'making public'? I have no issue at all, and no issue with Ricambi or his policies, each to their own. As the title of my thread suggested, I was asking if anybody would be willing to help me? At no point did I suggest anything bad about Ricambi, or the company?!

I did email and ask if an exception could be made, and this wasn't the case. But again, I have no issue with this whatsoever!

If my post is read in the manner intended, this will be obvious.

Paul, check your PM. I just ordered some parts from Ricambi 15mins back and it is to be delivered to my hotel in CA. You can piggyback my order.
I'll be flying to London on the 17th so you can meet up with me for the part. But please arrange with Daniel for your stuff to arrive with mine, if you want it that way.

I am very happy to see this ended well.

To the OP - if you read Daniel's first post, he clearly stated that his post was not directed at you:

Furthermore, Daniel is not in the courier business - by that I mean he does not profit from the shipping charges, and with a $5 transaction I would believe that he is not profiting at all.

Nonetheless, as I first mentioned I am glad to see this worked out for everyone in the end.

AceMaster, I understand it wasn't directed at me specifically, and I fear my original post may have come across like I had issue, but certainly this wasn't and isn't the case. I may have been slightly defensive after Daniels post as i'd like to think not everybody would try and rip a company off should parts be delayed, well i'm certainly not like that, i'm grateful of anybody's help, but I guess the sad fact is, maybe the majority would, and majority in this case wins, it's perfect business sense.

All I was trying to do was find a workaround which thanks to this forum and it's members I found which let me assume all the risks with the postage etc. My attitude was that hopefully it all ends well, but if I lost the sticker in the post, it wasn't going to break my heart or bank. I have no issue even if there was a markup on the postage, but for me, it made it unviable, hence my thread.

I have now ordered the part from Daniel and combined with FFC's offer, it's all sorted! I sometimes find it difficult to add a 'tone' to text, similar with emails. This post wasn't meant in any negative way.
