Guys, The needle on my 83 QV gas guage moves around a lot. How would I test whether it is the sending unit or the gauge? Thanks and have great 4th!

Here we go again - it depends what you mean by a lot but in general : they all do that sir - when the light starts to flicker you have a hundred miles when it goes solid you have fifty

Let me clarify. My guage worked fine before and now it seems to jump around and is more sensitive than it has ever been on inclines and declines. It is not normal as I have had normal. I ran search on gas guage but not a heck of a lot came up. Thanks.

If the gauge used to act one way and now it acts differently, then something has changed. Whether this behavior is seen as normal or not doesn't really matter. Something in the gauge, the sender, or the wiring is different than it was.
