Beware of this car - #112520

This is funny, i was looking at that car the other night with my wife, on ebay i think, we saw the "most discriminating buyer" part and then saw that it had 2 types of wheels on it. My wife and i looked at each other at the exact same time and both laughed!!!

 

Wow, I've been sitting here making a spreadsheet of the cars I'm interested in and this one was on the list. I couldn't figure out the deal with the crash so I googled the VIN, Salvage title came up then FerrariChat. Thanks for posting this thread !

I have also seen this car in person. I can only say that it in my opinion it would not be worth buying. It isn't the worst I've seen, but it is in pretty rough shape. To clarify, there have been two cars spoken of in this thread it seems; I'm speaking of the red berlinetta.

Jim Lyons was nice, drove the car down to my shop so I could inspect it. The story from him is that he acquired the car as part of a multi-car deal and he really didn't know anything about it. I was going to run a compression test but I never did as the rest of the car was just in rough shape.

It has had a lot of paint and bodywork done to it and the work that was done is of very low quality. It is two different colors of red and whomever painted it decided that it would be a good idea to blend the hood of the car. If you look at the hood, there is a distinct line where the clear coat was 'blended.' half the hood shines, the other half is dull and needs a good sand and buff.

There are a few things missing like headlight surrounds, wheel well cover, etc. Stuff that gets lost at body shops. I brought these things to his attention, he had said he didn't really know much about the car and was disappointed but thankful that I pointed the things out to him.

Mechanically it needs a major, and the radiator is leaking pretty badly. I remember that one set of the headers was replaced but not the other, makes you wonder if there are any issues on that bank due to the headers in the past?? In any case, I think this car is now a good candidate for a track car as it would take a lot to get it back to looking as good as they should. If you gut it and put a bunch of stickers and some spoilers on it, no one will notice how bad the paint and bodywork is.

Jim Lyons, to me, was not at all trying to hide anything and told me that he really hadn't had the car looked at and/or inspected. He just knew that it needed a major service and that he got it as part of a package of cars.

Its been proven and confirmed over and over.....once a F-Car has had a "MAJOR ACCIDENT".......ITS NEVER EVER THE SAME NOR DOES IT DRIVE THE SAME !!!

I think I've seen this car in the Valley. Wasn't it made even uglier after the crash with some funky wheels?
