I have finished re-dying the leather saddle color (original color 1975 GT4). Now the carpet looks like it should go. It is falling apart and smells, faded, etc. Contacted GAHH and they are sending some samples.

Question...I like black carpet with saddle leather as pictured on this forum by several 308 owners or, should I consider staying with a brown shade as originally matched from Italy?

The exterior is red now (originally was brown). Can anyone tell from the photo what color brown the original carpet is?

I could live with it either way. Do I risk loosing the "70's period look" by choosing black?

I know it's my choice...blah,blah,blah....but I would appreciate some opinions.

    Thanks.

That color looks identical to what my car had. Called 'castoro' or beaver. I couldn't find anywhere in the US that had wilton wool that matched it so I went with the closest shade I could find.

GAHH had a 1 year wait for the wilton wool to come in so I bought in bulk from another shop and made the carpet set myself.

I think you should go with black, that would look great.

308s did not have wool OEM, it was a twist loop nylon in the early cars (NLA) giving way to a plush nylon pile in the later years (1980 onwards)

The 12s had the Wilton wool often cited, see your Rolls Royce dealer for the colors.

Personally i don’t like black. It shows every spec of dirt and I’m not into vacuuming my car every day.
I have brown carpets in mine and the sand and dust off my shoes tends to be of similar color, at least around here so it takes longer before the floor looks dirty.
