just don't drive the car to work. IRS is the least of your worries. They look at what you send them in your tax return. They don't hire people to pry into your private lives without good reason.
Don't give the IRS a thought. Not a problem unless you have other reasons to be concerned. Enjoy your car!
I say F.... it and enjoy the car!!!!!!! 575 is very understate anyway. I have a red 575 and it never attract attention like 360 or 430.
I cant drive my Ferraris without getting attention but I dont mind it As for the IRS once you tell them how far prices have collapsed they'll probably lose interest I'd only worry if you are looking at an Enzo or some Multi Million $ 50s or 60s classic F
Why would he assume you are buying one for attention? There are one million other GOOD reasons why one would buy a Ferrari...namely because they are car enthusiasts? Why would you care what others think? Do you live for yourself and your family, or for others? If you are not breaking any laws in your profession, then nothing to worry about Other than this being one of the most ridiculous reasons for the IRS to come knocking, why the fear of attracting the IRS? Are you tax evading? Not me. My advice is this: Assuming you are married with children, take care of your family first. Once you have done that, then discuss this with your wife to make sure you guys can afford to buy AND maintain a Ferrari. If she is okay with it, and your finances are in order, then go for it....period....nothing else to discuss, not the IRS, not other jealous people, not "what will people think of me now"....none of that nonsense. Now, if you are single, with no kids, then just this part would apply to you and your finances are in order, then go for it....period....nothing else to discuss, not the IRS, not other jealous people, not "what will people think of me now"....none of that nonsense.
I still can't believe adults actually worry about what people who have no bearing on their lives will 'think' about a car they are driving. Will you attract attention? Probably. Will you be asked questions? Maybe Will there be cell phone pictures? Yes Will the IRS bother you? Don't be silly The only attitude you need to worry about is yours. Buy it. Drive it and enjoy it. You live once. Do what puts a smile on your face. This is the usual encounter: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329543

[/QUOTE] As of right now, my wife has no problem with it. The only thing she has a problem with is me shipping my Maserati off in a truck to Florida without having anything to show for it. I can afford to buy and maintain it when using my Granturismo as a trade. Finances are in order, saving about $20k a year for my 10 month old daughter's college fund. Have some credit card debt, but nothing major. I dont care what others think/say, as long as they dont have a gun in their hands ;-) AJ
Other things you might want to worry about in life: Don't marry that pretty girl! You don't want the attention. Don't buy that beautiful house! You don't want that attention. Don't wear that fancy watch! You don't want the attention. Don't buy a boat! You don't want the attention. Seriously.... just buy what makes you happy and forget what others think. When you're pushing up daisies it will be a little too late to wish differently. If you can afford it and it doesn't affect your family, just follow your heart.
Simple. Do what I do. Get on the road about an half-an-hour before daybreak on Sunday morning. The drunks have either made it home or are dead. The cops have gone home. Life is good. Dale
I follow a similar recipe on weekends - I'm an early riser while wife and kid like to sleep in. Add to that the smells of nature in the early morning, the freshness, and life IS good. To the OP. Although it is a Ferrari, it is "just" a car after all - just like your Maserati, other DDs, etc. You'll fine - don't worry, be happy... Jes
It is what it is! Ferrari's are beautiful cars; people like to watch them. Especially that it is a rare sight as well. On top of that, the car screams loud, so people turn around to see where the "loud music" comes from!! The other day I was driving mine (a CS) and in traffic. A young couple in a nice car (Lexus IS) came sided-by-side and asked to take a picture. I put both hands in front of my face and they took a picture and we all had a nice laugh. Enjoy it and share it; if others are not obnoxious...

Now I have to ask why does the IRS scares you, I work for the IRS and this is a red flag. Just kidding... No, I don't work there, but there has to be a member here who does.
