    Confirmed at Autosport:

So, the question becomes; why should the little teams (who's proposed protests started this whole mess of course) now decide to agree? What's changed?

    Cheers,

Keep changing the rules.... again and again and again... everyday new rules. Might as weel have different rules for lap 30 and different rules for lap 33... Ridiculous.

+1, It makes no sense that they would go from threatening to protest race results if the blown diffusers weren't banned, to just accepting the results when then ban is removed two weeks later.

However, this could be a clever move by the FIA. Now, from the next race the ban will be lifted, but should one of the teams not agree then the ban stays and the FIA can say : "Not our fault!".

So who is likely to disagree with allowing the blown diffusers to be used again?. Well there are a couple of the small teams for a start and it would appear on the evidence so far today that it would be in Ferrari's interest to say no to a return of blown diffusers too.

I somehow doubt this story has concluded just yet!

Oh yeah, this one's got a way to run yet. I hadn't even thought of Ferrari "getting involved!" ;)

The only thing that it seems they're agreed on right now is they don't want any official protests and appeal court etc involvement - Hopefully it'll stay that way and a compromise can be reach PDQ.

The **** will hit the fan if a Renault motor expires tomorrow.......

    Cheers,
    Ian

the problem is, the FIA are a creature of habit and they can't help themselves, they just have to tinker and meddle with F1, especially when it's all going comparatively smoothly.
It's as if someone in the FIA suddenly though: "We haven't had enough controversy this year!, I know, I've got an idea what could really stir things up!".

I may have mention this elsewhere ;) but it's become clear that the F1 powers that be not only have no respect for the serious fan but have given up the pretense of even caring.

This is the question the little teams will ask now. Why should they agree? HRT & Co. don't gain anything from agreeing or not agreeing, so it comes down to what the big teams offer them...;)

Pretty clear why they decided against the ban....

Can't post a spoiler but a team fell off the pace... and typical nepotism in F1 rules the day again!

That may be true but as I posted earlier:
If Ferrari figure they have gone from being @ 0.5~1 second behind Red Bull to only being 0.1 second behind due to the ban, then why would they want to instantly give that up?.

Brace yourselves for Ferrari possibly becoming the villain of the piece (again!).

Recent history has had Ferrari starting wrong footed and catching up mid year. Nothing unique to this season.

Ferrari is, to the non-tifosi, the black hatted bad boys of F1. Think NY Yankees or Dallas Cowboys. Jealousy is an ugly thing
    ;)

+1. F1 is its own version of troll racing series. Geez man. Make rules and live with them. Change em at the end of a season. Please make it at least a bit rational.

    Indeed.

*Way* too smart to waste themselves in gub'mint! ;)

I do think it's good they're still talking and no one's protested as yet - They really don't want to go there and have it decided in a courtroom in December.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Wrong? Why. Red Bull had the most to lose and did the most complaining. I doubt its completely wrong. These days whats wrong is a series that cant make up its own mind from one lap to the next. Seriously if it wasnt sad and pathetic it would be funny.

He's not talking about Red Bull... he's talking about McLaren.

He's always talking about McLaren. Always. Ad nauseum.

He's a troll by most standards... his point is that McLaren appear to have come out worst from the rule change, and therefore the FIA abandoned the ban (i.e. the FIA are out to help McLaren).

Think of a jilted ex and you'll understand the mentality :)

The irony is that, according to what was said on the broadcast this morning, Renault and Mercedes actually benefited from the decision (to set the threshold at 10% for all teams save MB and Renault, which got higher levels)... then McLaren and Mercedes benefitted from the subsequent decision (to tell Renault their threshold is 10%, but let MB keep theirs high).

Therefore, the claim that the whole ordeal is being dropped should, on it's face, actually harm MB and McLaren the most.

But, the post in question was never anything to do with facts or info, it was just trolling.

Suddenly it matters when a second tier team complains? Never been a problem before.
