Can you drop a 355 sump off from below?..

    As above, does anyone know if you can drop a 355 sump off from below to take pistons out, instead of having to completely take the engine out?

    Pistons cannot be removed from the "bottom" due to the block webbing...

    need the engine out to put it together so why not just take it out first??

    I can confirm you can drop the sump on a 355 in-place, have done it myself to cure an oil leak. It's a quick job actually. However, I agree with the others and would never pull a piston on this engine in-place, that would be looking for trouble.

    Yes, you can remove the bottom of the dry sump with the engine in the car.
    No, you cannot remove the pistons from the bottom.
    But, if the pistons are comming out, you will want access to the heads and valves anyway.
