Your car is really a beauty Mario. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'm still learning about these cars. Are the wheels original to the car? I've seen them before but rarely.
The originals are on the self. These are 17 inch etoiles with original knock offs . 245 front 285 rear....as many know modern rubber makes these cars much more fun. Mario
Good day Mario, You have one beautiful Boxer there! I have to disagree with you a little on your last comment. The speeding laws up here (and I am sure a lot of other places) are very strict because of the increase in street-racing, etc and so one has really three choices... Drive the car sparingly, move to a place where one can fully exploit the car's potential, or drive the car according to the local speed limits (+/- a bit )... I do option three, and I find that I derive a lot of driving pleasure even at a mixture of city/freeway speeds (50/60/80/100 KPH). Indeed the Boxer is well suited and designed for high speed touring... however, I find driving around the city "speeds" quite visceral given the tactile feel of the boxer. Even at these "low" speeds the boxer commands the driver's attention which I feel is completely missed/lost on the newer Ferraris and most other nice cars. Thankfully, the local Police do not hassle me at all nor does anyone else for that manner, which if they did, perhaps my perception would be different. Cheers, Sam
The story is true. I've been in his hangar several times, seen the car and heard the stories, not just about this Boxer. Yes, he has a fully restored Corsair, took best of show a few years ago at Oshkosh. Dave, BB512 # 37715
SO....Whats the price that will Take it...The reserve is______? Hard to believe I sold mine 5 years ago for $150,000.00 Top $$ back Then...
I think it will take $150K to buy this example too, msdesign Didn't WoodyByrd sell yours on, for $175k??
Yes...David Eichenbaum has it now... A member here.. Touching article on another of Davids cars in Forza Mag this month. Lets see what the Ferrari prices do after Aug. 2nd... we could have some Kamikaze F car drivers ...
DIRTY SECRETS. "If your car's not that dirty, consider using just water with a few tablespoons of kerosene mixed in," says Kohs. Kerosene, when mixed with water and rubbed on a car's surface, leaves a protective film that looks like wax, "but without the build-up," Kohs says. http://www.freep.com/article/20110611/FEATURES01/106110331/Auto-buffs-share-tips-how-get-your-wheels-squeaky-clean
I believe the same seller sold his dino (in the photos) a little while back. That car also had very low mileage and was all original
A couple of decades ago I recall being a target driving too many different exotic looking cars.....I felt they attracted a lot of attention from the local police....but today after over a decade with a totally perfect driving record I could drive my Boxer as an economy car since I can recall with the original tires at 55 mph could do about thirty miles to the gallon at even elevation and steady cruising at that speed.........I bet none of the prospects interested to own it now could come even close!! Mario
I think you might be over-romanticizing the modern European driving experience. I picked up my 612 at the factory in 2008, and had a very nice experience driving it around Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. However, the speed limits in most of Europe are the same or lower than in the US. Many western states have 75 mph speed limits, which equates to 120 kph. Furthermore, there are probably more places to, ah, exercise your Boxer in the Western US than in Europe, due to traffic congestion.
I had a bid at $135,000 and got called into a meeting and didn't increase my bid (forgot). I think it's a $145-$150 car. Edit: He should keep the car if possible.
If it is a 145-150k car then what budget would you set aside? Based on the description it needs a set of tires and a major service, plus I am sure a few odds and ends. 10-15k?
