My post did not mention Mclaren and their loss of performance. Thank you for posting a spoiler and ruining qualifying for the LEW HAM fan boys!

    I didn't post a spoiler - and you're *always* talking about McLaren.

You should give some thought to the fact that most of the long-term and well respected members of this forum pretty much all consider you a troll.

Either you care, in which case you will take steps to rectify the situation.

Or you don't care, in which case you are a troll.

    :)

You got me thinking - Again! ......

I'm pretty sure what is now FOTA agreed, back in the bad old days of JMB and thence the Concorde, that *any* rule change needed to be unanimous..... An incredibly hard thing to achieve.....

But, this is not a change, rather a clarification ;)

Further, Charlie has what amounts to a "Charlie rule" that allows anything he chooses - Otherwise the FIA couldn't run the sport - FOTA knows that, and is why we generally have relative peace among the combatants.......

However, I still won't accept that this BS is at the behest of Bernie (or whoever) wanting it to be the WWF. I still believe Charlie is trying to do what's right.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Ian,
I have had the greatest regard for Charlie as an honorable man operating among a nest of vipers but at this point the machinations speak for themselves.
With the Concorde up for renegotiation the stakes (and pressures) are huge. Murdoch is looking to move on Bernie. The track owners are staking their claims, threatening to run Indy Cars. A radical new engine standard is being determined. Etc. Etc.
The smell of blood is in the air and the knives are out. ;)

"May you live in interesting times"
    Old Chinese curse.

    OK. :)

Indeed - That should probably be a new thread however....

IIRC, "we" decided the Indy car thing probably gave the Pygmy a good laugh! :)

"Engine standards", I learnt a while back, are pretty much voted on by the stake holders - Seems it's what they want - Not a 4, but a V6 - Multinational Co's and huge ego's are agreeing on something that fundamental... ;)

    :)

While true, I still don't think this ****-storm is a conspiracy.

    Cheers,
    Ian

No conspiracy. Just a bunch of independent actors looking to position themselves favorably for the redistribution.
. As fans we tend not to focus on the bigger picture. F1 is a mega business first and foremost.

    Seems they've got it settled. In short;

    - The "Valencia" settings will be used for the remainder of the season - Blowing is allowed, but no map changes between qualy and race.
    - Everyone has agreed; no protests.
    - Next year the "problem" goes away with periscope style exhausts.

Somewhat interestingly, is seems Ferrari & Sauber were the last to come onboard.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Given enough time, money and energy saner heads have prevailed.
Too bad the whole farce needed to be played at all.

BTW The latest issue of Motorsport has a fascinating piece on F1 financials. The numbers are staggering.

Yep, sounds exactly like US gov. Change rules so no one
can make a decision where to put resources.

We all have much to learn from the FIA...

    http://en.espnf1.com/fia/motorsport/story/54269.html

"Debates over the legality of teams' exhaust systems and engine maps hung over the British Grand Prix last weekend, with the governing body changing the regulations during and between practice sessions. The crux of the issue was the use of exhaust gases to influence the performance of the diffuser when the driver is not pressing the accelerator, which the FIA considers "arguably illegal". "

    -----

So now... no one knows what is legal and what is illegal. In short... what you thought was legal is illegal but whatever was judged illegal is now considered legal. As long as Lew Senna Ham and Mclaren are happy and are able to remain competitive... legalities are all relative in the F1 land British nepotism.

    Yet Ferrari continues to win!!!!

What a race and what an amazing drive by Alonso... Exactly the way to answer the Lew Senna Ham fan boys at the Silver stone British Grand Prix.

Yes a great drive from Alonso, I'm very happy about that.

Why do you think I would be upset about that.
