i know there are tons of thread on A/C. i do not want to change anything from the original system, and i know it is not great. but i have a very newbie question. my evaporator leak on the passenger foot. i read it is kind of normal, but i also believe that probably wasn't like this when the car was new. it does not look like the drain is clogged. so i'd like to reseal it. maybe also blow some air inside and see if there is any loose piece from the interior material. i was wondering if it is difficult to take it down from where it is mounted, and how long does it take. it is something i need to take the all dashboard apart, or can it be done easily from the inside? i have only few hours during one of the weekend days to do it, and i don't want to find myself stuck mid-project and not being completed. i am no mechanic, but i am an handy guy.
See my reply to your other post a few minutes ago. The whole R&R repair could take you a full day or two including some shopping time for glue, sheetmetal misc. stuff. Good news - you DO NOT need to remove the dash (but I've done that too and it is not as hard as you might think! I forgot if I did a thread on that......). The leaking could be from one of two things: 1. bad drain hose/connection or 2. broken (cracked) plenum shell - like I found mine was. It will probably not be high tech to remedy (good!). Right, but only thing is you create a source of ideal mold growth ecosystem/environment. leads to stagnant stinky moldy odor inside the whole cab...... best figure how to drain completely with gravity.
