My 308 respray seems to indicate that the body sections below the lower door gap line are & were the body color. Yet, upon closer inspection, I can see black under the chipped red paint on mine. I notice other 308's are a mix of either black or body color along this lower section between the wheels. To confuse me even more, I recently acquired old photos of my car from the first owner, who took these pictures within a month of his purchase in 1983.
The shadow and distance shot of this photo are inconclusive (to me). Does anyone know what color this lowest section should be on a 308? Did it vary by year?

Note too that this car also came with the (non-stock) super deep chin spoiler from the Pozzi dealer in France! What is that about?!?!? The 1st owner also indicated to me he was contacted by Ferrari soon after he took delivery that they wanted to buy the car back from him, presumably to keep the car from "public view".
Does anyone recall a new 308 car being delivered with an aftermarket spoiler?
I'm thinking of contacting Ferrari (Italy) and asking if they know what the deal was with this Euro #44831.

Boxer trim was an option, definitately with the 2V injected model. I don't remember seeing it on a QV but it's possible.

I have little doubt your car was all one color

I think he means even lower below the doors if I'm not mistaken.. I think those parts were body color until the QV cars which had that part black

Yes, I meant the small narrow section way down almost out of view. The lowest beveled part about 4" wide and between the wheel wells.

Hmmmm.......is it smooth paint or orange peel type undercoat texture?
Gloss, low sheen or flat sheen?
Based upon chipping off paint at the rear undersides of the quarter skirts - well below the bumper, that is black too, yes?

It was black, you'll find that maintaining "body color" over the textured Spray Shurtz rock chip treatment is a laborious and time consuming task.

Because of this even the early cars lacking Boxer Trim carried the black around the (normal depth) chin spoiler, to allow easy touch up of the Satin Black.

It meets the door seam, on the sides, then it DOES taper down to a much narrrower domension as it travels to the rear quarter and forward to the front lip. I could measure on my three cars and get you pretty close.

Like on the Dino it does kind of 'wander around" from example to example

Yes.....on most examples I have seen.

Only about an inch, at the corners of the car. The spray shurtz follows the same diminishing height.

    Rustoleum BBQ Black is perfect.

It's a low sheen that gains reflectivity as you polish it over time.
Newman has the paint code for Boxer Trim if you want to go all jiggy with that.

+1 .... Rustoleum BBQ Black is perfect. Rocker panel between the wheels. Also underside of the front spoiler, even though that's not seen unless the car is on a lift.

    Looking good!

I can see why after a respray of excellent quality you might not want the front and rear treatments, a lot of Body Shops sand the spray shurtz off the front and very rearmost parts, so "do what you want".

    Black, textured.

As i recall, not highly glossy yet not flat black. So call it low sheen.

Directly below the rear bumper it was red, normal 'paint' color and not textured. IF YOU MEAN the very bottom of the car (angles, angled towards the tarmac) under the bumper, that is black.
