All, I was looking at pictures of my plugs from removal and noticed a funny thing. Remember the low readings I was having on #3. Well here is the plugs from that bank. It could be something else but is curious that the hole I had the low reading on is represented by a plug in this condition....... This is actually making me feel better.... Not about the condition of that cylinder but the fact that it was maybe in a bad state before my mishap. Also with so much gunk it lends credibility to the suggestion that some carbon is on the rings and and or valve causing something to leak. I am thinking carburetion or ignition, leaky valve guide? here is a pic of where I am at, I am hoping my attention to detail crosses over to my less than stellar mechanical skills..... My friend is still selling rebuilt and like new Sun machines if anyone is interested http://paramountd.com/ I cant believe no one has commented on my #3 plug I think whatever was causing the leakage in my test was happening before I thought I messed something up?
Wow, those Sun machines look great! Too pricey though for my humble garage. I'm sure you are right about plug #3. Hope that provides you a bit of peace. Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing you button things up!
Thanks for all the support guys I really need it. Chris it is funny what you said as I was out using the Sun machine late the other night and a few neighborhood kids were standing about a house distance away looking in my garage. Of course I have all my lights on which probably puts a drain on the local nuclear plant and one of them asked my wife if I was a mad scientist, as I am always wearing my blue Ferrari smock the same one they used to build our model cars, sometimes with a head magnifier on. Anyway the sun is spinning and making all sorts of sounds and flashing red, and humming etc. My wife gets home and she has probably never seen it running especially at night and goes wow is that a time machine pretty loud. Well I heard one of the kids yell "He has a time machine!" It was pretty funny, considering several were probably not born when it ran last......... I have read several articles and documented my plug changes with pictures and notes but would be interested in what you guys would read in my plugs? It is funny that a few are perfect an that one is pretty gunked up. That is probably a couple of thousand miles or less.
Fixed your post for you! Seriously, looks awesome. I guess the coolant pipe/hoses are all that's left?...
Several people said too rich? I do not have the experience to speculate although that plug looks the same the last 3 plug changes. The car has no white smoke and consumes no oil???
My dear Friends, It lives!!!!! Still messing with the carbs and a few leaks... wish I had a lift..... Working on my 20 page thank you list but wont send it out until I can actually drive it! For any who think that I am not blessed by Enzo, and he is watching over me, this may change your mind. The car started up fine after 30 seconds of running the starter to get the oil pumping, no smoke no drama, I set the static timing and was thinking about how to go about the carbs. I am looking at the engine running and the silicone stopper I had in the top tube of the oil separator pops out and goes straight in the timing hole...... I was actually thinking about this last night but thought hey thats real big and stuck down in there....... I calmly turn of the engine, freak out a bit... well allot... I have replaced my clutch and I am thinking I guess now I have take of the bell housing....no tears, I think my tear ducts are dried up by now. I think that maybe it ended up near one of the vent holes, and can reach in and grab it with something, so I get down on the ground and the stopper is lying under the bell housing where it was thrown out, not even chewed up........ The redline 20/50 oil is already leaking a bit from the drain plug, pan etc.. I knew it would but am amazed how thin it looks on the dipstick compared to the castrol 20/50 I was running for all those years. Got the cars all synced to each bank now trying to sync the front to the rear bank, every tutorial says something different not sure what to do, the book says well one sentence. Peter said I need to unhook the linkages which I spent a week getting perfect. The linkages from front to rear seem to both be in compression... Thanks to all for putting up with me. I think I will get my happy ending! Rob Image Unavailable, Please Login
cool. patience is the key to those carbs, to go from running 75% right to 100% comes down to micro adjustments and that takes tinkering. remember that front to back linkage is super sensitive..
