What is this fuse?

    On my '78 308, there is an oddball inline fuse in this grey holder secured above the fuse blocks. Anyone know what this is for? I've checked the wiring diagram but haven't been able to find it.

    Also, in case anyone is wondering, the block with two terminals and red wires is the circuit breaker for my window relays.

    Well, the holder itself looks like it might be aftermarket. However, the wires at each end have female spade connectors with the same white plastic block insulators as the other wires on the fuseblocks. The wires disappear into the bundle behind the block. Guess I'll check my wiring diagram again for the blue/white wire to see where it goes.

    Later US carb engines had a fuel vapor pump and that 8A fuse protects the timer circuitry.

    Edit - I best add that US injected cars have the same fuse but it's used for the cold start injector.

    That's the fuse for the hyphodufinator. If you pull it, the car will instantly vaporize.

    ahhhh, my 85 has one just like it. So either it came that way or our cars have been to the same shade tree electrician

    My 85 GTS doesn't have that fuse. Since yours does, I suspect its from a dealer-installed item common to 308s. Alarm and anti-theft systems were virtually mandatory in exotics in the 80s and they weren't yet factory installed.

    My car does have a pair of disconnected mini-toggle switches out of sight below the steering column that I'm pretty sure were for an alarm and an ignition disabling relay.

    Got a good point, mine at some time in her life had an alarm and also has/had a switch or two below the steering colum.

    I have tried to remove all the non Ferrari wiring including the 500 watt amp behind the passenger seat, leaving only the hood and engine compartment lid alarm switches. The car and battery life has become much more reliable since.

    I agree with the start injector fuse, my 83 QV has it too.

    Are hyphodufinators available aftermarket? I think my mother-in-laws car needs one.

    Careful, that can cause self-vaporization also! At the very least, it will cause the person sitting across from you to disappear from your life forever.
