Who knows... but one thing re: shippers...

This is a contract based business. Not sure if most people understand how it works because they dont really make it clear and I learned myself by shipping my car from CA to PA with Horseless Carriage.

The drivers are given a route on a contract basis and the shipper basically waits until they have a "full truck" before starting the trip.

So essentially, in my case for example, they needed to have "enough" cars going from West to East to make the trip "work"

The best they can usually do is a "pickup window" where, based on the activity they're seeing, they can give a good guess that the trip should be kicking off.

I know many rave about various carriers, and Horseless is one of them, but I can tell you that in my case the assumptions were all way off.

This comes down to luck, and it was fine because I didn't care really, but if you're the type of person who needs to say "I WANT THIS CAR PICKED UP TUESDAY THE 5TH AND IN XYZ CITY BY NO LATER THAN FRIDAY THE 11TH!" you *will* be disappointed by *any* of these carriers, subject to random chance.

The only alternative would be to *fully* pay for a run. Meaning telling them "I dont care what it costs... I will pay for a FULL truck because I want the car picked up and delivered on exact dates"

In THAT case you will get as close to guaranteed delivery as you can get and it will be 4x the cost.

I used TFX, but back in April they were operating more-or-less weekly shipments from Florida to Canada because all of the so called "snow birds" were re-locating back to Canada for the summer. At that time of year it's therefore reasonably quick and easy to get a slot on a Canada-bound shipment.

Hmmm, on June 24th I said the following:

"I don't know what your deal is, but I assume it includes manuals, keys, fobs etc. Make sure every single "loose" item is specifically listed on the shipping manifest and absolutely make sure that the carrier refuses to accept the car if any of the items are missing. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about having recently been stung (NOT by TFX I hasten to add). The carrier will hate doing this, but you don't want to learn the hard way."

I feel badly for you and doubt that you'll ever see any of the additional items.

Not a fan, looks like it has the "Sir Mix Alot" package. Are there enough sunny days up there for a Ferrari?

I actually like Sir mix alot, but that's alot of white up front, in my opinion. Didn't want to hurt the gentlemen's feelings.

I think he posted in another thread that he had the car in his hands and all is well. No specifics of course. He's also looking for a method for attaching his front license plate, which implies (perhaps) that he has registered it, which means that the RIV process must be complete.

I've had my car serviced by Elio and was very impressed. I highly recommend him -- your car will be in good hands and his labour rates are very reasonable.

I don't mean to be rude, but what does your post have to do with alvav's question regarding servicing in Montreal?
