Look, I like stereo as much as the next guy, heck I have a $20K stereo in my home (albums and CDs not included.) At home I enjoy the nuances of the background instruments with 70+dB signal to noise ratio (exterior noise included).

In a car, you have a signal to noise ratio of about 50dB (in a Cadilac cruising at 60 MPH). In the Ferrari you have a signal to noise ratio of about 30dB while cruising and less than 10dB when using the car as designed.

Sorry, but listening to music (or anything but the engine) in the Ferrari is simply a waste of time. You may get a general impression of what was played, but you can't get the little nuances that are the difference between real music and simple noise.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind while the missus and I sing along to Billy Idol on our next top-down road trip along the PCH.

(Is there some reason these threads get so many "music is blasphemy, I'm holier than thou" responses?)

Most of the time it's the Eagles, however there's times when my Ipod serves up (random play) some Van Halen and I notice I start driving the car a bit more, let's say 'spirited".

Usually Capristo ;) , but occasionally Tool, Toadies, Ben Folds, Jason Mraz, reggae, etc. Agree with the Bill Withers vote, too!

Don't know about the base system but the optional factory hi-fi F430 system is pretty decent. Not like my home or Porsche aftermarket McIntosh based systems, but good enough that I plan to leave the F430 as is.

A stereo in a Ferrari should be a capital felony.

Raptorduck, one could just as easily argue that chopping the top, and adding the extra weight of a convertible top, on a sports car should be a felony.

    You been talking with CarNut?

Na, chopping the top off allows you to enjoy the fully unmuffled melody of the Tubi Symphony.

RaptorDuck, I don't believe I know CarNut. However, I spent many years on racetracks and can promise you that ALL of ours cars are compromised to make them 'streetable'. Therefore, self-righteousness about various compromises gets tiresome after a while, especially among adults with the means and intelligence to choose for themselves. Personally, I would choose a coupe over a convertible on almost any sportscar, but I would never feel compelled to belittle your preferences. Just a thought.

Yea, pretty sure you took my post way to seriously, cuz it wasn't. Particularly when I have a stereo in my 360 that listen to; when the engine lets me that is. You need to lighten up. And I spent many many years on racetracks myself (on 2 wheels); although that does not suddenly make me the post police.
