    Hi all,

I am a new member. I am trying to decide if I should get the 430 spider Scuderia 16M or just the Scuderia for weekend drive. I currently own the 997tt for my dd. the cost difference btwn the hard top and convertible is like $90k.

please let me know your comments

    thanks
    Daniel

I don't think I will ever ride in a convertible again.

    But, I am not you.

The 16M has the rarity aspect and its a convertible. But from a practicality standpoint, a hard top might be better.

    Just my two cents though

Cant go wrong w either but I'd jump on 16M for cruising on road

    Scud for track days

Depends on where you live as well

If this is a pure weekend toy then 16M would be my choice... You get 2 cars in one with the 16M... a Spider for crusing in a great weather condition and a Scud for the sound... I am not sure if the handling would be as sharp as the coupe but on the road, the different would be too small to care.

16M. Why? As the others say you get two cars for the price of one. The only drawback is whether you want to track the car. Then I'd suggest the 430 Scuderia due to more rigidity and safety. Also the 16M is a bit more rarer than the 430 Scuderia with the Scud north of the 1000 produced and the 16M only 499.

yes, this is a pure weekend thing so, may be the spider is a smarter choice. however, I do drive fast and the 16M does in fact has a much better handling and sounds so much better IMO

I do want a convertible as I already ahve the 997TT couple. may be the questions should be Scuderia 16M or F430 spider for weekend use?

You can get a early model 430 spider for half the price of a 16M. (300 vs 150, roughly). I think that you need to drive both and see what experience you are looking for.

You'll enjoy driving the 430 Spider or the 16M, they're both fantastic cars. The question is whether the 16M's motorsport-style character is worth an additional 100K. However, as cool as it is, the 16M is not as suited for long trips as the Spider. It's louder, the ride is firmer and its race-seats are stiffer. IMO, the Spider is a Sports/GT car, the 16M is Sports/Track car.

If you're gonna take the car for quick blasts, the 16M will satisfy, no question. If you're gonna take the wife/gf on long rides or on trips, she'll probably like riding in the Spider a lot more.

I did drive both on Saturday. if I didn't drive the 16M, the spider is good enough but once you have driven the 16M, you can really feel the different. the spider from '09 is asking around $200k, very affordable to me and still like $80k cheaper than the 16M. I am still thinking.....

Not that the 80k is nothing, but if your seriously considering the 16M and the budget allows I wouldn't even think twice. Being that your looking at newer, expensive 430 spiders, I would go with the 16M. Even though it costs more it will hold it's value better than the normal production siblings.

When you are at s uteri level, vert or coupe makes tiny difference in terms of performance and handling. But I'd go for 16M for the coolness and rarity factor. 16M for me, anytime.

I traded my 07 430 Spider for the 16M.. Once I drove the 16M there was no question for my weekend needs the 16M did it for me. It cannot be expressed until one has driven both.

If you can afford it, go for the 16M and bypass the 430 spider. For me, I cannot justify my car plus another 150K or so.

I would buy a Porsche GT2 and keep mine for that kind of money. Matter of fact, that is my plan.

    +1 .

I'm almost about to convince myself that a 360 is all speed I need, and not to get the 430 as my tuned 996tt (never selling) is already way to fast to enjoy on the streets for more than a few seconds WOT at a time anyway. The 996tt and a 360 together would be the same sticker, and likely cheaper to own with very little depreciation, than a single F430. Gotta love the "car math" we do here, and what becomes reasonable in our minds :).
