    +1 pretty much.

Looks like Ferrari, RB, and Mcl have nearly identical race pace with Mcl having the tiniest of edge here

The Tyrrells race pace on primes is approx. 1.5 seconds down on the big three judging by the radio conversation with Schu....1:27.5 to 1:29.0... Quite a gap but I suspect it is spot on. The Force seems ready to push the Renaults out of Q3, nothing in it between themselves, La Regie and the Saubers..nice midfield battle.

I hope so, but I think it's just wishful thinking. All red bull Vettel needs is consistent top 5 finishes and he's guaranteed to win it.

Yeah they are having issues with the supersofts. Given the same tires on the front 3, they are about .7-.8 off race pace.

+1 Good summary as always Is ;)

I'm a little surprised at the gaps - I haven't checked, but don't think P10 has been ~2 seconds back at the end of FP2 any other time this year..... And the tail enders are outside of 107 for the first time. Hopefully, they'll all get bunched up come qualy.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I dunno - What we don't know is how much gas they were running.

    Cheers,

When one similar tires, the gap is not as big as Isobel is stating. Still a huge gap. The big issue is sector 2 where they are missing about .6 on race pace.

Ferrari have their new and rear wings. I believe they will do very very well at this race if they get a grip on these new items. I have no doubt that front wing of theirs is bringing another 5-10 points to the front which is of course balanced out by the new rear wing. Probably good for a solid .200 together.

I wonder why they don't use "invisible ink" (viewable under UV light in a darkened room) to do those aerodynamic tests instead of the florescent stuff that all the other teams can see in the pictures.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

bah. too little time in practice and in F1 everything moves so quick technology-wise I don't believe it would matter much anyway

Spoken like a truly paranoid F1 engineer! :)

I've never used it, but suspect the other guys can't divine much info from said pix - I dunno, but suspect how it's initially applied may be important too, and the "bad guys" don't know that.......

I also wonder how long the info it's showing remains valid (?) - Remember, unless Charlie comes poking round they can't "close the drapes" and darken the garage.

    Cheers,
    Ian

I wonder about that, too - in the picture posted you can already see the paint surrender to gravity...

Edit: As to the value of the visible paint to the other teams, no matter how it is applied, they still can see the flow along the surfaces. The question is if it's to any use of them - I doubt that it is transferable among different aero designs, they'd have to use a similar wing.

Looking forward to a great race. Will be fun to see the "big 3" challenging each other.

I think the fun factor at this race is going to come down to the effectiveness of the DRS zone in promoting overtaking. Hungary has always been a snorefest with very little on track action. If that problem has been cracked this year, then we should get another great show... erm race.
