I've had my share of all the zillions of things people say/do when out in the
328GTS. Magnum jokes, thumbs up, hoots, honks, hollers, insults, you name it.

But today? A kid in a blinged Caddy pulled up in the lane on the right. He had
no traffic in front or behind, but I did. I was with Son of Jedi on an errand. We
were in one of our typical philosophical discussions when this kid pulled along
side and started chatting it up. "Is that real? Is it a kit car? Is it the real deal?
    What year?" etc. etc.

But the thing is he wouldn't LEAVE us. He had open lane ahead, I didn't. So he
just hung by our side interrupting us! He just wouldn't leave - even talking while
driving and doing hand gestures to help explain his point/question. Jeremy and
I just had to put our conversation on hold - until we finally lost him when he turned
off at a light. I wasn't rude to him - but come on!

Jeremy and I had a good laugh about it - but what an odd experience.

I've had that happen as well...people still go nuts over our cars...gotta love it. It is such a beautiful iconic design that 30+ years after its introduction it still turns heads and gets huge reactions from people.

You should be honored by the recognition. But you seem annoyed. ??

    A. I've had the car 3.5 years.... the novelty of such events has worn off
    B. I was having an INVOLVED conversation with my son, who came to visit me for a week
    C. This went on for TEN MINUTES, during which I couldn't talk to Jeremy

If you were in, say, a Camry, with the window open on your wife's side of the
car, and trying to have a discussion with her, and someone kept along side you
yelling into your window for ten minutes and stopping your own conversation.....

The KIND of car it is to me makes no difference. So yes, it was annoying.

Please forgive me for saying, sadly, the whole world seems to be annoyed and (again no offensive intended toward you) in conditions where we (personally and collectively) have conditions 99% of the world envies, yet the unhappy grabs the day.

In one way, the kid in the Blinged up Caddy should be ecstatic on several counts, the great day he's having hanging in a great car enjoying one of the few great days in the PNW, trying to chat up two guys in another neat car. But he ends up unknowingly creating unhappiness for you.

Things just aren't as the big man intended. And here I'm adding to the unhappiness but sorry, I'm caught up in your moment, perhaps jealous that no one notices my 308 except one guy once in a gas station (13 year owner) , and truly hope you are able to salvage the day with your son.

It's all good Paul - and you make very good points. I'm only saying that "admiring
someone's car" shouldn't take on the effect of downright intruding. I've given many
rides to kids and strangers, and never stop anyone from looking at, sitting in, touching
photographing, etc. in car parks and such. Happens all the time.

But ten minutes of being shadowed, with a guy yelling questions at us out his window,
while driving, while trying to have what at the time was a pretty involved discussion
with my 17 YO kid, who flies home at 7 AM tomorrow (my last afternoon with him)
    just seemed over the top.
