I put my own new battery into my Toyota truck this week, but I did bleed for a few minutes from the effort..mainly because the core was $12!!

Can I grind one down, from a Chevy you think???

    Retail $$$ is $5,500.

I cross posted to 308 Section it seems to have disappeared.
Maybe Dave or Brian will know of one..

I PM'd you about that Bonneville LSR print if you want it, Tim.
I think my PMs were full for your reply!

I will offer this tale and you can make of it what you will. During the height of the Ferrari rental business here, I did 3X8 clutches a LOT. At first, I followed textbook procedures, but soon price and time pressures to get the cars back into service led to experimenting with less than textbook practice. It has forever impressed me with the ruggedness and durability of the cars. I have simply put new clutch discs into cars whose flywheels were blue and severely heat checked. I almost never replaced the throw out bearing. It was never a problem. The cars and clutches all worked fine. These cars were beat and flogged and kept coming back for more!!

The carb and injected cars have differing timing marks and of course the injected car flywheel has the pins for the ignition sensors.

GT Car Parts is always a good place to try for a used part like this.

I know I have a spare out of a burned GTSi. I will be playing catch up for a week or two with the event cars gone now. If you dont find one in the mean time I will look for this one.

I was getting ready to call you, but had lost your number in a swimming pool/cell phone situation.

It seems an "i" or even a 328 flywheel would work but the timing marks will need to be transferred from the carbed wheel. You remove the pins for the Digiplex.

Thanks Dave see what you have and I'll try to get the eBay one for $150....:D

    My survey found:
TRutlands Serio reproduction universal no timing marks NEW $1,500
FerrParts Brian a 328 that looks "as new" out of stored car that rotted AS NEW $500
Ricambi says North American versions (two distributor timing marks) are NLA
Ricambi says a Euro single distributor is a different part number (timing marks)

Mine wasn't glazed or heat checked he distinctly said CRACKED. :(
I'll try to get by for pics.
    I trust him.

    "Lightweight" flywheel???

What would be the advantage ( or disadvantage for street use) of a lightweight unit against the stock one??

I have been offered a lightweight one from a FChatter (and I certainly appreciate it!!)

    Discuss......

    Big Tex,

Lightweight = less "Polar Moment" of inertia.
( ad nausium,,, in another thread. We should link it here.)

Mondial crosses over to the GTB???

There's one from an injected car on ebay too, I am "on that one" as a bidder while Dave Helms sorts his 'take off" bin...

I'll install one and hang one on the wall!!!

    Thanks!

I'll go find that thread.....seems like it would stall easier, around town....the lightwieght one.

A V-E-R-Y reliable source says that the milled repros offered by SuperFormance are actually quite-good, if only 'new' will-do....that is, of your options don't pan out its good for a 'Plan D'.

Me too. Big difference between heat checked and cracked like the liberty bell.
$5500! Are these dual mass flywheels or does Maranello get that kind of dough for 20# of iron?
A dual mass FW presents machining obstacles if it's only heat checked.

One on eBay times out tomorrow currently at $150.....wish me luck!!

No, you are right, it's just a steel flywheel with obtuse stamping marks on it....LOL!

Because of it's location spinning 7800RPM right behind my head, I'm not inclined to tell hime "It's okay put it back in"!!!

And Dave is rummaging around out in the barn, for his....I'll take it too.

    Hurrah!!!!!

    $175, from a hairdresser's car. :D :D

    1980 GTSi VIN# ZFFAA02A8A0032379, 24,000 miles.

I think we can safely assume the rest of the car is gone, too.
    A wrecking yard in Oregon.

Keep looking though Dave, as also need to do the clutch in my #22641.

Well, they were pretty tiny little stress cracks, but they are defiantely there, more telling to me was that the flywheel had already lost a LOT of material to previous work, I couldn't see any timing marks left on the edge that was there!!

    Into the dumpster....

This new one hopefully will do it, thanks to everyone for the help!!
