I faithfully watch Coronation Street and enjoy a 99 as much as anyone, but I do have mixed allegiances. There ain't many of us behind the wheel of BRVs ;).

True, or you could say we're equal 2nd in the list of countries that have produced drivers with three or more WDCs, which isn't too bad. ;)

We're also joint first in the list of countries that have multiple WDCs.

I´ve always wondered why British can be so succesful building race cars but couldn´t avoid that their car industry went down the toilet. Most British race teams survive thanks to foreign investors as apart from Jaguar and Aston Martin, there aren´t significant British car manufacturers to pay the bills.

Regarding the drivers, it´s obvious: lots of tracks, lots of cars ====> lots of drivers.

The thing I like most about the Brits....fish and chips!! The beer's not bad either. As for F1, I guess the Brits are ok.

Should not this thread's title begin with "we brits" rather than "us brits"? It seems a shame to bugger the King's English. ;-)

I should also have mentioned that my Dad's side of the family came over from Wales.

Then too, I also thought you might have meant US Brits, as in US/British, like Peter Windsor's USF1 team. Oh wait, nevermind that. ;-)

Damnit Is! Gotta get the translator out again!.....

I *am* British, and I have no idea what "99" means!

BRV? "British racing vehicle" is my only (no doubt poor) guess?

I reckon we may need a sticky; "How to translate Ism's" :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Ahh! OK, I remember now!

[Although, the pic doesn't actually depict a 99 - It needs a couple of sticks of chocolate stuck in it IIRC?]

    :)

    Cheers,
    Ian
EDIT: "Cadburys flakes" are the chocolate sticks, right?.......

OK, we nailed the "99", but everyone's ominously quiet on the "BRV".......

    ;)

BTW, is Coronation Street still going? East Enders?

    Cheers,
    Ian

    :D

Corrie and Eastenders are still going.

Don't watch them myself, but strangely Corrie was on the TV in a bar I was in on Prince Edward Island just after the Canadian GP, which I wasn't expecting. Turned out the guy running the place had moved there from the UK in January. Him an his family were big GP fans, having regularly attended the British GP and were making plans for either Montreal or Austin next year.

There are hard core fans of the series in Canada and stars of the show draw sizable crowds when they tour. I believe our (Canadian) viewership defines one of those subtle difference between Canucks and our friends immediately south ;).

Actually, Corrie Street was commissioned for production by a Torontonian, Harry Elton.

Indeed, BRV = British Racing Verde....;)
