It's about time I got around to saying hi. I'll admit to using this site for a while (couple years)....signed up a few months ago. I wanted a 355 so that is what I bought after several months of flying around the country looking for one; '99 355F1 GTS. I got a reasonable deal and a great car that I've owned for over a year now. There are some very sharp and helpful people on this site, and I have to thank all of them. If you're looking, there's no need to keep asking "what do I need to know", everything you can think of is addressed here. Figure out which one you want, buy the best one you can afford, and keep $10k aside just in case.

For the gear heads I'm a DIY'er and have had few issues:
-replaced 4 y/o battery for peace of mind
-replaced rear hood struts that were sagging..not expensive..from Ricambi
-annual maintenance; filters fluids and such
    -Redline 5W40, 75W90ns and Glycoshell.
    -no sticky parts at all

The car has been great fun and attracts a fair amount of attention. I had it in Salt Lake a couple weeks ago and got caught in a down pour. I'm happy to report that it did not melt or turn into a pumpkin and the roof doesn't leak.

That car is sick homey. Kinda wish I bought a car with black interior, but black/tan is alright. SO glad you're having fun with it, these things are supposed to be wound out!

Congrats and welcome to the club.

Best color combo ever. Another guy here, James, has a non-F1-shift 1999 Rosso Corsa/Black GTS with red stitching. (my Spider is Red/Black, but I covet other's red stitching)

Congrads on the purchase. Its truly an amazing looking car. You got the best of the both worlds, open top but ridgid enough when the top is on.
Enjoy the drive and stay safe

Looks good! I like the interior. I wouldn't expect to like the red stitching but I do :O) Did you specifically look for a F1 over a 6 speed?

Thanks guys, I actually began looking for a red/tan manual Berlinetta, but was unable to locate a reasonably nice one that I felt comfortable buying. This one came along and it was the red stitching that swayed me....looks even better in person. Still trying to get used to the paddles. They're not second nature yet.
