My 348 is still driving me a little spare with a surging idle from a cold start (ie engine stone cold after a cool night) RPM will go from 800 to 1500 for about 3-4 minutes, then as the engine warms, settle down to 100rpm and purr like a kitten. I have tried adjusting both idle valves.... no change. Installed new idle regulator motors (absolute bargain from Rockauto) no change Running out of ideas....
Have you tried the "re-learn" procedure Peter? Disconnect the battery for a minute or two, connect and start the car. Leave the engine idle for at least 15 mins without touching the gas pedal. Try that and go from there Brother.
Thanks Pap...yes..but worth another try I guess. By the way once it warms up it idles at sweetly 1000 rpm... my earlier post had a typo
Hmmmmmmmm, ok. Give it another shot and see what happens Pete. In the meantime, sleep time for Pap. Night shift tonight.
I think some guys use the battery disconnect regularly not realizing that relearn is necessary each time. A loose battery connection (or bullet connector) plus temperature changes, etc, might also cause that. Good luck and let us know what you find!
Could be the O2 sensors hunting for the correct air/fuel mixture. I know this happens on other makes as well. The fact it goes away once warmed up seems to fit that scenario. Just my 2 cents.
Get the Gold Connector kit made by Dave Helms from Daniel at Ricambi, That will fix your issues and then some. Best money you can spend on your car
