I really don't think people at this level are worried about recession, but more wher eto put their money in terms of return.... An I am not just talking about a financial return

If one was to ask "What is the cost to a key to ALL of the COOLEST Auto events costs?", the number would be much less than this. However, this car not only opens the doors, but gets them to the front of the line

Is there any information on who the buyer is? I'm just wondering if this strong USD price might not have been so strong in the eyes of a buyer with a wallet full of Swiss Francs or even Euros.

Good point. But it's still more expensive than 714 was in Euro's.

    Here is the Barchetta quote:

    6. - damaged in a garage fire.
"The fire was caused by pouring gasoline into the cockpit of the car. It was in pretty sad shape by then anyway with some holes in the body, real engine long gone (to Pete Lovely). But the chassis was intact and undamaged (when we restored it you could see where there had been fire, and we took photos of it, but it was not of enough intensity to hurt the frame.) The car also had a full set of undamaged Borranis on it. It was missing a lot of stuff including the seats, the windscreen and probably some of the instruments. There are some sketchy photos of it then that show a very tired and abused old race car."

    A pretty checkered past....

Not if you understand it's place in the TR line, I am reading the "Ferrari Testa Rassa V12" book right now, that covers EVERY car, and EVERY race.

This car was really "the first", a development mule for the Factory, but very different from the subsequent Factory race cars, or the customer cars for any given year (there was a batch made in '57, and again 58, and the TR59 and so forth.

For all it's battered, beat up past, this car is ......histroically, very important to the TR story. I'm glad I read the book when I did.

If you wanted a "clean" one it would be one of the cars that led a protected, limited racing career.

    This one isn't it!!!!

It wrecked and burned heavily, in one of it's first competition events.
