Do you guys think prices on 355s will go much lower than they already are? I'm seeing the cheapest red ones at around 50-55k. GTBs seem much harder to find, mostly spiders for sale. I guess color, service history, mileage and overall condition plays a big factor.

And for those who believe prices will rise on these bad boys, how long do you think that will take?

Will these become collectors...I do hope so :)

I purposely do not look at any F355 values because I plan on keeping mine until I drop. Not going to sell, don't want another. It is everything a sports car should be IMO.

If you can get in on one now and are a long term owner then now is the time to start looking. I was looking for 2-3 years before I picked mine up. Find a realistic private seller who has taken great care of their car and buy it. Just wait for the right one for you.

I think if you're going to buy the car, put miles on it, and not meticulously maintain it... then no, you'll likely never see *appreciation* at all.

If you bought a *top of the market* specimen now, preserved it fully, and never drove it... then yes, likely you'd see some eventually. Although I doubt it would be enough to stay ahead of the cost of the majors over time.

I would say that the market right now is soft enough, and the cars are still new enough, that a decent one can be found at a good deal for someone who, like the posters above, wants to keep it.

As time rolls on, I think the "affordable" ones will become more and more dangerous on the wallet (due to mounting deferred maintenance)

I think this is a pretty good time to buy - horrific economy, car is 12-17 years old, pressure from aging 360s... Of course that assumes that one can handle the operating costs honestly without planning to rely on deferring maintenance (which just leads to much worse pain down the line)

At some point it seems logical that 308->328->348->355->360->430 values would settle into some sort of equilibrium. How they price out ultimately is going to come down to simple market dynamics - basically the car that proves most desirable to whatever secondary market emerges over time will be valued the highest and the rest will follow down from there in some sort of order. These cars were all produced in pretty high #s (in Ferrari terms) and modern Ferraris in general arent prized as highly by "traditional" collector types, so new criteria will ultimately emerge (possibly maintenance and running costs, performance and styling "timelessness", or something else entirely). The answers here can turn out surprising. Lots of wild cards in there.

I'm of the same attitude. I have reached automotive utopia. I will probably die broke due to it. But I'll have a smile on my face.

Actually, the prices have climbed substantially over the low that they hit approximately a year ago. Most good examples, are asking high-$60,000s.

I also plan on keeping mine.
