There will be a few but not a high conversion to the 458 from the California. The 458 and California are so different that California owners should spend time in a 458 before taking that decision. One could own a California and a 458 Spider and have peace of mind they have not duplicated anything in the garage.

The only weird thing that jumps out at me is how the seat head rests don't line up with the cowls in the back, if you look closely they are offset so half of the head rest shows from behind...

Looks miles better in black than red, I must say.

I still prefer the coupe but it is one of the best looking convertibles ever made.

Simply amazing!!!!! Now I'm really torn... The convertible or the scuderia version? I track my cars but how amazing would it be to roll top open in this!

    Nice job Ferrari!!!!

If they lined up on the exterior side, your head would be way too close to the pillar and side window, if you could keep your head upright at all.

I completely agree. The black on two tone couio and black looks stunning. With the yellow calipers it is an amazing package.

That's pretty clever. Wonder what it will do with the 458 coupe sales.

I'm in love! This car is absolutely perfect.
Who needs to see the engine when the rest of the car looks this good?

Unless its purely for an aerodynamic stand point or flow into the engine, they could've widened each "bubble" a bit more to give it more of a symmetrical feel. Even with that aerial view you can see the harnesses are offset to one side more than the other when lined up to the seat.

As a potential 458 buyer, I more than likely wouldn't consider the coupe now. Except for the possible roof problems that some Ferraris suffer from, I see no reason personally to get the coupe. I rarely track my cars and the difference between coupe and spider performance is almost minimal. Having the hardtop convertible is the best of both worlds. Probably a reason for good Cali sales. Being able to retain the gorgeous lines was a big question before the pictures were released, now its been settled. The lack of glass over the engine would be the other hangup. But I don't really have a choice ;).

Looks sharp! No way this is going to kill coupe sales. The two cars will happily coexist in the market. My main concern is a safety issue. For shorter drivers, rear 3/4 visibility will be terrible because of the large buttresses. It also looks like the rear deck is quite high, so again, I'd be concerned about rear visibility. We shall see when real people try the car!

Those aren't harnesses. They are the luggage restraint straps for the rear bench bags if you look closely ;)

Just me, or do those pics look like it is a 1:18 model? Too much video wizardy/touchup?

Thy don't line up on the 360 or 430 spiders either; they are set exactly like this.

I gotta admit - I was disappointed in the lack of a clear engine cover...but the car is beautiful...I might be tempted to trade in my coupe for it...

They are possibly even more offset to the edge of that car compared to the 458 spider.

FYI< I claim the 360 when you go for the 458! Gotta keep it in S LA. No raccoon, but a possum or three is possible! ;)

It's just an unusual lighting as I see it. I imagine the engineering has been enough trouble at 1:1 scale as to having to replicate in miniature!!! :D
