I guess he doesn't have to self-report to AllState. They already know...

    http://statesville.wbtv.com/news/transportation/66244-kyle-busch-pleads-guilty-128-mph-speeding-case-loses-license

"Kyle Busch has pleaded guilty after he was cited for speeding more than 128 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone in Iredell County back in May. Busch pleaded guilty to speeding charges and "no contest" to charges of careless and reckless driving on Tuesday afternoon in an Iredell County Courtroom. He was sentenced to 30 days suspended and was given a one-year unsupervised probation. He was fined $1,000 in the case and the court took his driver's license for 45 days. Busch was given a prayer for judgment on the reckless driving charge."

Its not a black and white issue. Some speed limits make a lot of sense given the road and is an appropriate safe limit. Many speed limits are annoyingly low and are there to produce revenue. Many are just traps. I wish the government would just charge more for registering a vehicle or tax us some other way, rather than setting up situations to write BS speeding tickets. The problem has been stated before, I can afford the ticket, BUT the points on your license can add up and they can take away your driving privilege, court time, insurance, ect. all add up to a harsh punishment for BS.

However, before I stated doing Driver Education events at my local track, I thought I was a good high speed driver. I think almost every man thinks they are too. It would be nice if included in the classes to obtain your license in the first place, you could learn about vehicle dynamics and what effects the limit of adhesion. Or even the concept that there is a limit of adhesion. Would really make sense for the 17 year old who wants to go fast to not kill anybody.

I wish cops would pull people over and give tickets for the far more offensive driving wrongs people commit besides just the # on a radar gun. For example, I see people driving with obstructed windshields, driving while texting and talking on the phone, not paying attention, not merging properly, being afraid to make a simple right turn onto the road because they are going to make a left eventually, and feel the need to wait until all the lanes are clear because they want to merge and change two or three lanes all in one maneuver. People who make a left turn and cannot stay in their lane. You have to be so defensive out there these days because there is so much bad and unpredictable driving. But do people get pulled over for this stuff, NO.

I get pulled over in my Ferrari, doing a 8 miles over the speed limit on an open road because the speed limit changed for no apparent reason on a little sign. It just sucks! So, now I am hyper vigilant and drive the exact speed limit where I know the cops like to hide, or just in areas where they could be lurking. Its actually dangerous, and I piss a lot of people off by going the speed limit. Very few people go the limit, and they are all trying to pass me or they tailgate, which is more dangerous than going 10mph over the limit in the first place!

I just love getting out to the racetrack and blasting around where its safe!!!

Our government sucks. Why are there low speed limits, why is marijuana illegal? The answer is not what the government says, its the ulterior motives that piss me off!

I think if they raised the limit to 75-80 most people wouldn't go much faster, unless there's low traffic and few turns. I love to speed, but generally 80-90mph range is what my little commuted car is comfortable at.

Not quite. NTSB indicates most accidents occur at less that 45 mph and within 25 miles of home.

The problem is the definition of "excess speed".

In most cases any accident that is attributed to "failure to stop in time" is classified as excess speed...

Around here the issue is not the speeding, it's the driving.

As a european living in the tri-state area I wish the police would enforce the driving code more. Not only would it eventually improve driving standards (which are frankly terrible in NJ and NY - flame suit on :) ) it would generate bucket loads of revenue via fixed penalty notices. It would be a win-win. Talking on a cell - $$, hogging a lane $$, not signalling $$, jumping lights $$.
