I just sold my Challenge wheels but when they were for sale, I got two weird emails inquiring about the wheels. One was from a guy in Philidelphia that wanted the wheels but could not do paypal. He said he would send a check, and he would have someone pick up the wheels because he knew shippers around the country. After several emails and no check, I asked him for his VIN# of his car and he gave me one that was not a F355 #. The second guy said he was from Maryland and even told me his wife' name. He saw the ad in FCA. It was almost like a form letter, he wanted to know where the part was, the VIN # of the car, he also said I didn't need to worry about shipping, he would have someone pick up the wheels. I think these guys look over all our websites and look for parts for sale and have a scam going. So if you are selling parts be wary.

That's what it sounds like. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They want to sell your part to someone else while giving them your full information and taking the money from the buyer. Next thing you know you got customers knocking on your door asking for the parts or the money back.

Or worse, and it happens, they are trying to figure out the residence in order to rob the place. If you have Challenge wheels, chances are you've got other things that are worth some money.

This happened to a friend of mine who was selling his FJ40 Landcruiser, which was amazingly restored, on eBay. He got a lot of emails about the truck and where folks could see it.

Woke up one morning and the FJ40 was gone. They were quiet and fast. It turned up 2 years later in England where a guy bought it from a classics shop there. They probably cleaned the title and history in Mexico and then off to the UK from there. Scary.

That's what my wife thinks-- they were trying to find out where the car was to either steal the car or break into the house.

It was totally a scam. I have guys wanting to buy exhausts and they say a customer owes them money which is usually about 4,000 more then what I am charging so they say cash the check and go to Western Union and send them the balance due along with sending them their purchase and they are so appreciative they say take another 10% off for my trouble...NOT !!
Be very careful and do not take checks unless you know the person. Cash is king !!
Good Luck, glad you listened to your wife, she was right on
Just remember you will have 15,000,000.00 coming from a Bank President in Nigeria

Why limit yourself to 6 shots? Go with a Sig Sauer... On a serious note, you can't legally pull a gun on a robber unless you feel that your life is threatened or you're in danger of severe bodily harm - if you shoot someone for trying to steal your Ferrari, you'll likely end up in jail.

As for fraud, be careful what details you give. I've found a car of mine for sale on eBay just from pictures I posted on a forum (they found a VIN for a similar vehicle on Autotrader or something).

Here is one I just received:

    Hello ,

    I DECIDED TO CONTACT YOU

I know this may sound ridiculous and unreal, but you must understand that life is all about chances and utilization of opportunities that comes our way. PLEASE DONT BE EMBARASSED NOR OFFENDED BY MY E-MAIL TO YOU. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT OUT OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE I CHOOSE TO CONTACT YOU. Is obvious we dont know each other yet, but we dont know why nature is crossing our path today. Meeting new people in our lives is a never-ending circle. You are like God sent to me today as I type this email for you. You may think this is too good to be real, but I am telling you today that as God lives, this is as real as the air both of us breathe

Let me start by Formally introducing myself to you. I am Attorney Berline Jonathan a Legal Practitioner representing Rev. Fr. James .., My late client was a 66 years Old Filipino Catholic Reverend Father who came here in Nigeria in the 1945 with a black Missionary Rev. Sister; He left Philippines at the age of five(5), after The Japanese invading of the Philippines. He said the experience is cataclysm. However, he lived all his life here and owned an NGO which receives Financial Aid (Grant) from the United Nation and other conglomates. He died of Asthma attack, and since then no one has come forward to claim this fund he deposited in a Bank here, which he intend to use in establishing a foundation for Charity homes and orphanage centers in third world countries as he has been doing secretly.

Also to the issue-Based on my relationship with my client, he informed me of some wonderful ideas he wants to embark on which was to build one or two churches around the third wave countries and Asia and also donate monies to churches, and also to less privilege homes around the globe too with this deposit of US$2.800.000.00m he made through a CODED account in his local bank here in Africa which he gave me the CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT to keep as his lawyer.

THE BANK Chairman and Members of the Board of Directors, had just started arrangement for the fund to be declared "Unclaimed" and subsequently be donated as trust fund for arms/ ammunition to further enhance the course of War in Africa for their selfish political interest/investment. In order to avert this negative development, I hereby need your cooperation in order to see that the Will of my late client is actualized. I can never achieve this objective without a trustworthy foreigner and this is where you come in.
However, I want to seek your consent to present you as a relative to My deceased client by virtue of Power of attorney. As attorney to the deceased the responsibility to establish your relationship with my client rest on me and to achieve this objective, there are judicial processes involved, which I will brief you on subsequent correspondence if you indicate interest. Also take note that this is 100% risk free and legal.

I am not pursuing this claim for the financial gain. It is a duty I owe to my late client who unfortunately was an orphan with no existing relatives and even as I intend to use part of the funds to establish a foundation in his name in the philippines; notwithstanding you will be adequately rewarded for your assistance in this endeavor I have decided to offer you 30% of the said funds. Expecting to hear from you as soon as possible, you can contact me on my direct private email:[email protected] and while replying include your direct mobile phone so I can give you a call immediately for further details.

    Yours sincerely,

    Berline Jonathan

Actually, I go for my desert eagle .50! It doesn't even need to leave the holster! Just don't shoot em if they're not in your domicile!

Before this goes too far, I DO NOT condone violence of any kind or seek out confrontation...but don't try to steal my 348, ok? :)
