Ok, so looking for a 360 or 550; many of you have shared with me ht several of the dealers I ahve contacted are very reputable; you bought a well "sorted car" , fobs, keys, history, got it all....so what goes thru your mind when you see two cars, same year, same equipment, maybe one has daytona seats,(whats that worth) one does not, and mileage is almost exact....and then you see that one is $25k more than the other one. Yet many of you have bought from the company that has the lower priced car; I do not want to say I feel better spending more, lol and I know the old adage "you get what you pay for...but the deals I see are from once again dealers that are stating "full sorted" and welcome the PPI, surely some of you had this dilemma, its not like buying a Corvette, and the prices are pretty close, thanks folks! dog

It's your money. Spend as much of it as you want. Either way, with time and milage, the services will cost the same.

Most of us get excited when we first see the car with the lower price.

Then, one of 2 things happens:
    - either there is a good reason the price is lower (some defect or shortcoming that wasn't obvious at first), or
    - there is no good reason for the lower price.

In the latter case, we then buy the car! :D
(Happened to me with my blue 550).

I bought on price alone.. and I couldn't be happier. $25k is still $25k IMHO. That extra $$ buys alot of work on a car that may or may not be needed. It's great when you know the history of the car and it's reputable. That 25k car can still have the same check engine lights, header issues and F1 issues (if equipped) as a cheaper car.

I asked myself after the PPI, given my automotive knowledge and abilities if the flaws found on the car were acceptable to me. They were and I bought her. Ferrari's are like any other used car, some surprises good and bad are to be expected. The difference is a factor of $. ;-)

I know how to work on my car and have a super mechanic (Karl Troy, European Road and Racing - shameless plug)... so I know the repairs that get done are done to perfection. As such, when I bought my car I made the worst case assumption that no belts had ever been changed, original clutch, etc. and factored that into my decision.

Best wishes in the hunt.. it is half the fun!

Just remember that with Ferraris "everything is an option" so the Daytona seats ARE an added cost/value, as well as any carbon fiber bits, and like the wheel options, you can make a $25K spread pretty easily if you are looking at the original window sticker.

It's also been my experience with older long time owners they'll reduce the sell ask pretty significantly if it is going to a "good home".

I might do the same myslef.

$25K pays for a lot of repairs...except if you have a boat....or maybe a Ferrari.

You all make great points, why overpay..but then sometimes you do get what you pay for. I never buy on price alone BUT it does factor in future repairs, upgrades, etc. NO DOUBT I whave a grea home; every car gets washed twice a month and waxed once a month; my detail guy has been coming to my homes for over 15 years now; from my wife's Mazda CX-9, my Saab wagon and the BMW 530; I love cars and it is for me my therapy;thanks to all...dogdoc
