And then backed off a little after further review. I guess no penalties, but I suspect the stewards are having a quiet word with both of 'em. Cheers, Ian
The way I see it is that the track was red: No longer anybody's business what they do. Stop nannying everything to death please.
I'm not trying to nanny anything. But, I've gotta disagree that it's nobody's business. One of 'em could easily have wound up in the wall, and that'll get the stewards attention... OK, nobody did, so let's move on without any penalties. Cheers, Ian
+1 Exactly, hey should each be moved up one place for adding a bit of excitement to all this PC Bull **** that has become F1.
Really would agree with everybody that said no race penalties. They should just do what NASCAR does, bring both drivers to race control and give them some serious lip with the threat that any more such childish demonstrations would get them multi race bans. LH can not afford that. But for this race, just let them race. Actually, this could make for some fun Sunday.
Speed channel presenters carries very little gravity in the Uk. I was talking about presenters of the BBC who are and were acual F1 drivers.
In part I agree but it seems really amateurish and even petty. BTW: I felt the same way when Schumacher went after Coultard in the pits. Of course it's difficult for people to keep their emotions under control when the pressure is on but that's EXACTLY what makes a great race driver. This ain't circle dirt track racing. People need to act at a higher level.
Two of the three Speed presenters have F1 experience. David Hobbs was a driver and Steve Machett was a mechanic. They are not new to the sport by any stretch of the imagination. Also, don't the Brittish press/TV presenters tend to favor Hamilton??? Could be a little biased perhaps? Mark
Fixed it for you. If you choose to be condescending you may want to at least to be correct. That said,... they don't garner much respect hear either!
According to Pitpass.com, stewards determined BOTH drivers were responsible for causing the collision, although, obvious, they deemed PM more at fault. Mark
Steve Matchett is not just any ole' "mecanic". 8 years with Benetton, years which included two Driver Championships (M. Schumacher) and one Constructors' Championship. Yeah, i'd say he's pretty damn qualified to be an F1 commentator.
Yes it was. For once we actually saw some real emotion from MS. I actually liked that, justified or not. I just find it insanely petty when the FIA (or any sport's authority) thinks it has to "control" the behavior of the contenders. They're human beings with emotions and all, so effing what? If they want to make fools of themselves in public, let them do it. I equally hate it when NASCAR fines a driver for using a 4 letter word or for showing somebody the finger etc. So what? And puleeaze don't tell me it is about the children. They see worse every day everywhere. Again: I only say this because here we had two doofuses at work. I'd penalize the hell out of an offender if the other party were innocent.
Yes, but you fail to notice that the BBC commentators have British* accents, which makes everything they say more credible. For me, I prefer DC over all of them. *Which includes Scottish and Irish if applicable.
As a side note: Matchett was NOT working on the title winning car. His was on the other one. I like Matchett a lot but he has his limitations. Worst case was supporting the USF1 scam.
In my book ANY former F1 driver trumps any other commentator. There is no substitute for having done the real thing.
I think Hamilton started this. His wheel banging was a bit unethical, i think, considering all the cars in front of him were setting lap times.
The track being red is why this was so bad. It's when everyone including the flag workers guards are down. Racing incidents are expected EXCEPT during the track being red.
What a surprise!! a 5 grid spot penalty for the guy who got driven into in the last corner by Hamilton, and nothing for Ron Dennis' boy, who has more stewards repremands this year than the whole field combined! No politics in play there. Lewis Hamilton is a complete ****** on track with a complete lack of composure, always has been and always will be. His maturity level is a joke. If you want to drive with bravado, and bang wheels, then do it like Mansell and Piquet used to, both as willing participants, not by clouting into an unsuspecting driver trying to set a hot lap, or a team mate minding his own business in the rain on a straight away. He's even ****** to his own team members on the radio. A real classless act!
