I have an older Tubi on my 355. I think you'll like it. Most do.

Not usually a fan of yellow cars but that looks pretty slick.....

    Congrats!

Forget what anyone else says - when (and if) you are ever ready to sell, let me know, I'll buy it without a blink. Who cares if it has a salvage title? Are any (with a few exceptions) 348's investments? I don't look at mine as one. Drive the car - enjoy it, and service it as needed.

986...Do not let your a P mechanic work on your Ferrari. For some reason alot of Ferraris get screwed up by P mechanics and then Ferraris get a bad name. We would hate your next post to be..." I took my 348 to my trusted P mechanic and now..." This forum has seen every 348 bug and knows how to fix it.
    Tips:
    1-Trust the brain trust here
2-Trust Daniel at Ricambi to get the best parts and avoid the wrong parts, counterfeit parts, and recommend non-oem substitute parts that work from the likes of SRI and Hill engineering.
3- Trust Scuderia Rampante Inovations and Hill engineering products to solve many bugs
4-Do a Fchat search on gold connectors to solve a myriad of electronic ghosts and poor running symptoms.

If you start with this list you will save yourself many headaches and a lot of time.

I agree 100% with Chup. Looks like a great buy. CONGRATS!!Drive it and enjoy. You can't buy a Honda these days for $22k. I am actually jealous- if I had the opportunity, I would have bought it myself as would most of us posting here.

    More pics please.

    +1!!

Jeeze, $22k has got me thinking I need to look around for a sibling for mine! Even if you put $15-17K into it right now, you're still in good shape. I wouldn't worry about the title issues or theft history or whatever, either -- I'm one of those people who believes that as long as the frame is straight, you can remedy just about anything with time, energy, and of course, $$. Best of all, you get to oversee the work and will have the resulting peace of mind! Bring it up to speed maintenance-wise and you will have a far better car than any of the needy garage queens! I'd pay $37k or so for that!!

I think Fatbillybob is right on, too.

This is a lot like the airplanes I have purchased in the past.

Some feel that if a plane has damage history it is worthless, scary and to be avoided.

Others look at the repair and say it is actually better once completed because areas of the airplane have been fixed & inspected that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Two airline captains and two FAA inspector friends of mine fall into this camp.

Certainly a poor repair job warrants a car to be avoided....but a properly repaired or serviced car with a title blemish is not nearly as catastrophic as some would have you believe. (unless it is an Enzo or some other investment grade vehicle of course)

As the miles and time elapse since the cause of the incident, the less impactful it is on the value..... DRIVE IT!

For what it's worth, I spoke with a Ferrari Salesman who was extremely knowledgable and had apparently driven just about everything from the 60's on up to today. I remember him saying that a 348 with Tubi's was his favorite sounding.

guys, im in a bind.. I flew several hundred miles to pick up the car today, and the left rear quarter panel has been bondo'd, and resprayed most of the car. The drivers door pops when you ppen and close it, and the windows dont seal against the targa roof which lets a lot of water in. The interior leather is delaminating all through out the car. There is axle grease all over the passenger side of the transmission, and someone removed the check engine light bulb from the 5-8 slow down light...

i only noticed that because they left the screws for the gauge cluster out. I borrowed a bulb from a neighboring light and put it in the empty slot only to find the light was displayed all the time when driving.

The brake pedal is hard as a rock .So hard that I cannot stop hardly.

I dont believe the miles are accurate either, but thats nothing compared to the poor shape of the interior.

Did i mention the AC does NOT work!

driver door pop-check clearance with front fender. Always a close clearance, may be solvable with very thin shims.
Windows are adjustable somewhat, most targas leak
Axle grease is prob from torn cv boot, $100 fix or less DIY
CE light could be cat, cat ECU, ECU sensor
Brake pedal hardness maybe vacuum pump for power brake unit????? check fuse
    Leaking AC freon?
Seats weigh 54lbs each, maybe replace them with some nice racing seats and have better performance?
    Are you in LA area?
    Good bondo job?

Did you go through with the purchase? This is still a good project car if you are DIY minded. Don't worry about the sd or CEL lights. Good luck.

Sounds like cr@p unless you want to make a track car. However 348's are slow at 3000lbs and 300hp and expensive to build into a decent race car. At this point you will spend 20k and have a car not as good as a 42k no stories car.

My driver door sort of "pops" too, two clicks open, two clicks closed, has done it since I bought it, passenger door does it too, just not as bad - it's whatever retention device Ferrari uses - I had an old Triumph that did the same thing. I'll get around to fixing it eventually.

The window/targa thing is as described above, they just don't fit perfectly.

The brakes use a pressurized hydraulic system on the driver side under the panel in the front trunk. Check the fuses and connectors up front on the passenger side. I was putting freon in mine one time and accidentally unplugged the connector providing power to the brake system pump and my brakes went away too. Luckily I quickly found out what I did and plugged it back in. You may just be low on fluid and/or have air in the brake system. For 22K you have room to sort the thing out and get it all fixed up. May not be the deal you thought you got, but will still be a good car when sorted. If you have to take it just call it the deal you got and start fixing, if you are not good at fixing stuff I would back out of the deal if possible and let that be a learning lesson to get a member close by to check it out before you try again. Sometimes these things just happen...
