Looks like Mr. Denial is back! All F1 drivers "whine" to a varying degree but a select few on the current grid (Barrichello and Hamilton in particular) take it further than the others, particularly Barrichello. Don't be pissed off because 90% of the replies in the Barrichello whiner thread agreed with me. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he was sacked after this year.

I dislike Barrichello and Hamilton, for the above reasons, at least Hamilton actually has WDC. I do admire Hamilton's balls-out style because it is fun to watch and I would be thrilled if I got the opportunity to meet him or any driver on the grid.

As for MS, he is my favorite of all time because of his tireless work ethic, phenominal skill and his ability to be very competitive in different eras of Formula One. He also has a great attitude...for example his damn wheel falls off in Q1 which should have ruined his anniversary race of 20 great years in the sport. However, he didn't b!tch one bit and went out there and drove the hell out of the car.

The work ethic is certainly there as long as it suits his own goals...

Indeed it is. I'm just no fan of the beatification of MS. He ain't no Saint and neither are the other drivers.

And of course in MS' case it really rubs me the wrong way when he makes some bold promises/statements just to break them when they don't fit his own goals.

And Senna was better than Schumi for sure, along with Fangio. I didn't get to see Fangio, but Senna was so intense in his preparation and dedication it made Schumi look like he was lazy. Best Ever.

LOL. Don't know which one of us is in denial. Just pointing out that another Fchatter pointed out that all drivers b!tch and moan about things - all the time. It's just racing. All of them whine. I don't know why you don't see or hear it, but it does occur.

Ok, let me rephrase. He used to be exceptional, now he is a top 10 guy but not even a shadow of what he once was.

If you had to pick the fastest five guys on the grid, would he be in it?

Apparently we need to recall the threads from a few years ago when MS came back and many of you were screaming with excitement of how he was going to return to form and win more titles....*shakes head* - guess not. In fact, he can't even beat his own teammate..........................'nuff said.

Is that a more accurate description for you?

And he didn't ***** when his engine exploded when he was in the lead at Suzuka in 2006. Or, when his fuel pressure pump failed at Brazil in qualifying, 2006.

Hang on....so what you're telling me is that out of the all the track racers in the world, he's only in the top 10?? OMG...he's a disgrace! LOL

Oh I think you've certainly clarified something...that's for sure.

Why was that such a shock?

There are folks on here who doubt Vettel is any good despite him bagging now the second title.
There are folks on here who think Hamilton sucks, despite being a WDC.
There are folks on here who think Button is an undeserving champion

    etcetc

It's a rough crowd in this forum. Any F1 driver is top of the racing game (at least for single seaters on road courses :)). Even the ones at the end of the field whom we call worthless are good. MS is good, but he isn't great anymore.

I dislike Hamilton immensely. He's a very talented driver but too many unnecessary robust moves with absolutely no respect for other drivers on track for my taste.

Hamilton will be a multiple WDC when he grows up.

Until then, hard to respect him, same goes for Alonso.

He has a chance. Assuming the stars continue to align for him, *maybe*. For sure, he's darn quick but I doubt he'll get three........

Ouch! :) Fred's already got two and I think has grown up a lot since arriving at the Scuderia. I think he's probably the best out there right now - If he had a decent car, he'd be looking at another, and this time he'd do it with "class".

    As always, my 02c,
    Cheers,

I've never liked Hamilton but if you've followed Formula 1 for any amount of time, it is impossible for a fan to doubt his skills.

I thought Nico would be too quick for MS after his departure from F1. Truth be told, watching Mike shove Rubino near enough the retaining wall for him to scrape off bubblegum leftovers was a sure sign to me he was more than capable of participating. His drive in Montreal was almost as stellar as Button's. He hasn't lost any of his skills, he's just older and in an inferior car. Is he as good as Nico ? Absolutely. Is he better than Nico? Sometimes, but mostly no. His day is past and he knows it. Nico is the fourth best driver currently in F1 imho. But I digress.

Plenty of things to hate about F1, not one of them involves the actual participants on the grid.

Over the years, I've preferred some drivers and not particularly cared for others. When that was the case, I would just tend to ignore the drivers I didn't care for--I've never understood the mindset of the sports fan who wastes time and energy rooting against someone. For whatever reason, I no longer have that same passion I once had for F1 when I really cheered for certain drivers like Lauda, Villeneuve & Senna. I've changed, as has the sport. But to the OP's question, I know I can look at the races and incidents as objectively as anyone since 1) I harbor no grudges/biases towards any drivers, and 2) I no longer mentally archive the racing action as I once did, so every incident is its own self-contained event to me. I wish I still felt about the sport the way I did 15-20 years ago, but time moves on and things change.
