Oh no!! I was so excited for you, I'm really sorry to see this. I thought maybe, against all odds, someone really had found a deal. Sounds as though it was very poorly repaired and improperly represented. Then again, Plugzit has a point. Some of the repairs may be pretty simple.
Idk what to do guys. I really want one of these cars, but this thing scares me terribly. The bondo work is not good and is cracking in a couple places. Honestly, there are cleaner perfect cars now in the lower and mid 30's. I am probably going to wait on this one, however if someone else wants it, let me know.
yep, im going to wait, and in a month or so ill find one. Are there perfect examples of this car anywhere, with immaculate interior etc? I really LOVE the 348s looks
yeah haha, this car was seriously in rough shape at best. their ad even says excellent condition. what a bunch of tools. Now they want to keep my deposit, even though they lied their ass off about its condition.
Well that stinks. But, not surprising I guess. Not sure what the F-Chat policies are on this, but I for one would like to know who you are dealing with.
Ugh...I was going to ask that, but I was afraid to :-( Tell 'em you're going to out their lame @$$es on F-chat unless you get your money back! Then out 'em anyway
Does anyone here really think you can get a 348 that's not in this condition for 22k?? I don't find it as such a surprise
Chupacabra has one. I have said it a million times that there there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari...... and you get what you pay for. Don't bother with the $30K bottom basement cars either. WAIT and SAVE for a true, no story gem that will keep a smile on your face for years, rather than fill your mind with dread and your nights with nightmares.
heck i would take it for 20 k if all the parts are there. if it runs and has compression thats all i need for that price
If i were in his position, and it was a bank transfer, i would call the fraud department of the bank. I bank with Bank of America, and every time i have called the fraud department i have gotten money back. I think if there are photos proving that the car is in a condition other than stated in the add, i would not think the fraud department would have much problem getting the money back.
Is this the P.O.S. from Florida that has been on craigslist forever seemingly from a private seller but is actually a low life dealer? As seen here: http://CaviarDreams.net/pictures/2363 and http://daytona.craigslist.org/ctd/2468585026.html
I was going to look at that car this weekend. Funny, he told me he had a deposit but if i got there first i could buy it. Hes sounded really shady on the phone and told me it was in excellent condition also. Said it had never been wrecked just stolen. It has acura nsx seats in it also. Sorry for your luck, but glad i dont have to make the drive to see it. Good luck and did you still buy it?
vbturbo2 , I did not buy it. I actually paid the deposit with a debit card, and planned to [ay the balance with wire xfer. I am going to dispute this charge, and I have the ads, and the photos I took to tell the story. They ignored me today when I returned their loaner vehicle... Wouldnt even speak to me about my refund. I called the landline, and they ignored my call.. called the cellphone, ignored that. Sent text messages and those as well were ignored. I will be disputing it with BOA, and I will be contacting the motor vehicle commission in the state of Florida. Today when I was taking photos for my case, I realized the car was white, and repainted yellow. So more bad news. Guys, do NOT buy this thing for a dime over 18k... its not going to stay running. Today I noted more oil and grease leaking, and a knocking sound very faintly at idle.
Man, it just gets better and better. Sounds like this horse is ready for the glue factory. Is it, in fact, the car in bosshog's links?
Let us know how you make out. What I have found is if you stick to the facts vs. what was represented on paper and in photos and claim fraud and misrepresentation you should win with no problem. In the future, I don't think there is a federal equivalent to the fair credit billing and reporting acts which are for your consumer protection. Debit cards want to act like credit cards and shift the risk from the lender to you. That is why I never use them. I think most debit card problems are treated like credit card problems but I don't think there is a federal law that protects you or forces the issuer to comply with a specific set of consumer protection rules. I'll be glad to be schooled on that if anyone knows for sure. I just don't see any reason to use a debit card unless you can't get a credit card and anyone can get one of those. My kid just turned 18 and got her first credit card with no job as a college student totally on her own. So if she can do it anyone can. Since this will be your first Ferrari you may ask the 348 board to vet the car you are thinking about purchasing. The general market is dead as a doornail and there are more good cars than there are buyers. You can take your time and pick a good car and I doubt you will loose the deal because someone on Fchat sneaks under you. You are more likely to find out something you had not considered. If the car is out of your state there is a good chance someone here will go have a look at it for you and give you another opinion. Just think of all the headache you could have avoided if you did that 1st before you ever booked your plane ride and sent a deposit that you have to fight to get back.
thanks guys for the solid advise. I am going to dispute it with my bank, and I have enough documentation to get the win I am sure
Even worse then I thought! Good luck with your refund, I will also look elsewhere. It might take some time to find the wright one, but it will be worth the wait.
