I always suspected something was wrong,in the last 5 months they've slowly gotten rid of there exotic section,so were to from now damilian????
Wow thats huge. I used to sell Hondas back in 2004 and he had the biggest dealership in NSW. 3 levels with office facilities and a swimming pool/gym for clients. Always had every model and every colour in stock and would never dealer swap any car.
"The Daily Telegraph understands this creditor is the National Australia Bank, who is believed to have forced the receivership after an extended period of negotiations to restructure his debt. NAB yesterday would not confirm or deny they were the bank, redirecting questions to Ferrier Hodgson" "In 2009, Mr Damelian hinted at new woes for the dealership companies, saying he had "gone from about 50 prestige cars a month to about 32 we are selling now". A close associate of Mr Damelian said a key to the decline of the business was a combination of the GFC and falling sales of Hondas, once its lifeblood. "What killed him really was he had a great facility there, but it probably became too big for the franchises," the source said" M
Not by anyone who had the misfortune to actually buy a car from them...their service department was a ah, unique experience..I took an Alfa there once - once was enough - not the slightest clue and absolutely no imagination when it came to telling fibs. Mind you, I don't think there is one competent Alfa dealer in Sydney these days.
They had a Saab franchise too.. which lapsed after several stories about vehicle servicing on ACA & TT... Not sure how they ever funded a full 2 page colour spread in the Sydney Morning Herald EVERY Saturday in the Drive section.. all it really confirmed was that their cars were over the odds, even for brand new ones...
Well if they cant sell the properties at 'fire sale' prices Here then presumably the floor plan financing requires the inventory to return to its owners for a full refund... ... then the 'redundant' properties go back on the block.. Or the whole place sells Skodas... which is the only bit not being squeezed by the administrators..Here... YET!
a swimming pool/gym for clients. FFS who goes to the pool or gym while buying a car.should stick to the core business.
hubba hubba http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/sydney-nsw/stars-dealer-fails-rick-damelian-empire-collapses-with-80m-owed-to-bank/story-e6freuzi-1226130075158
Na it was mainly for their service clients. Idea was to get your car serviced and stick around to use the facilities. Also had offices and internet. Obviously a service not wanted by your typical Honda buyer . . They would always low ball as well. As soon as a customer told you they were going to shop you against Damelians it was a no win
Not news to me. Have a mate who left Rick long ago because the writing was on the wall. Rick will have something stashed away for him and his cute trophy wife, but im thinking they will come after him from the angle that he, traded knowingly that he was insolvent. Didnt one of the dealerships have a cafe and squash court??? Why anyone would want to buy a car from a dealership that clearly makes TOO much money (money from customers like you), is beyond me. There are also alot of rumors from ex employees going around for a long time, i wont go into details about it, however you could probably script an underbelly episode out of it
