Sorry to derail this thread further.

But Domenic, I personally think the 550B is much more collectable and will hold up to others more down the road in terms of collectability and value. With the 550B you already have one GT car so I would definetly sell the 575 and get a different configuration of car such as the Scud. Or a CS of course :)

    Just my 2 cents Dom.

    Thanks Vasco,
That's what I was thinking also, I will just have to be patient and maybe revisit this in the spring of 2012.....:)

Getting back to the thread.....it will be interesting to see what happens to Scud prices this coming winter. I have a feeling they will go down some more, how much, who knows?....but what the hell do I know:)

scuds and 430s are gonna take a beating (not the 16m)- they made too many, as with the 360 - they are virtually all the same car - though the 360 will be hit the hardest because of the belts, and the 430 is on chain....355s are already sitting for 50K - 60K and not selling.

the 458 is such a large move forward i have heard from people driving these that the 430 and scud is getting old fast - multiply this with other great cars you can buy, lambos,r8s,gtrs,vipers,z06s - there is just too much choice now and not enough buyers.

    take your time -

Plus with the way the economy is now and the outlook not looking too good for the next few years. The number of buyers will continue to dwindle.

+100. We are all living in a bubble which is called "Southern Ontario"....jobs, industrial and commercial growth have been steady for 10 years, we've been VERY lucky in the GTA.

Alot of guys buying up F cars recently, but it looks like things are slowing down... I can already see that listings on Autotrader have risen from 40-50 cars a week, to about 70-80 in the GTA. Inventories are not moving right now, literally dozens of 360s and 430s sitting around with no buyers.

Was speaking with a friend who recently purchased a 2011 Quattroporte from Miami...he said that there was nobody inside the dealership when he was there, then he went out for dinner (in Miami) and said that the restaurant was also empty. The salesman said that they are surviving because most of their used F Cars head up to Toronto and Vancouver! Thats how they are making money in the crappy US economy now. I don't know how long the GTA can take on these inventories before prices will crash...Things are slowing down and getting bloated...prices will fall even more.

    A Toronto Scud for $224,000 is a a good start though..:D

I have had Ferrari's on and off since 1992.
My first car was a 1978 308GTS. I bought the car because it was always a dream to own one.
I enjoyed this car for 6 years and believe it or not, I made $15K on it when I sold it.
I didn't buy this car as an investment or hoping to make money on it, but it just worked out that way and I was very content with the whole ownership, experience and sale process.

The next car was a 1983 400i 5 Speed that I owned for 2 years.
I drove, enjoyed and sold it for the same amount that I originally paid for it.

I then had an 04 575M 6 Speed car that I owned, drove and sold after 8 months. Same thing, I did not lose money on the car.......

I have had my Barchetta since 2009 and my current 575M F1 since May/10 and I bought these cars to DRIVE and ENJOY them.........I don't look at them as investments or with the EXPECTATION that they will go up in value.

FYI, the Barchetta is a numbered car that probably holds more future value than your 09 Scuderia (I am assuming by your username that this is what you own).

..............now here is just a thought........with all the higher production numbers of Ferrari's ,coupled with our Global and North American economy, it comes down to the economics of supply and demand.

It comes down to rational, economic logic, not monetary value based on emotional ownership.

I love the Scuderia as a car and it's performance attributes, but I see these cars depreciating just like most newer generation Ferrari's.

Just a thought Danny......If Scuderia prices do go lower, would you consider buying another one to have a lower DOLLAR COST AVERAGE?, sell it and take your financial losses? or keep it until they are collectible and go up in value for more than what you paid?

When I am in the market for one, I will just buy it, drive it, enjoy it and sell it if & when I have finished having my fun with it. :)

But, what the hell do I know?;)

i understand what your saying i will not sale my Scud for a 458 and take a hit you have to be crazy , when these newer Ferrari start come out in the next 5 to 6 year and there they,ll want 500k and 600k for a mass production car you,ll have to start looking for a good use one so a Scud for 275k doesnt sound to bad , I,am just saying give it time and the scud will rebound in Price it be crazy to sell one now, the 458 are already taking a hit now that the spider out, , what do i know ??

I do not know what your friend would like to spend, but Ferrari Quebec has a really cool one for $325,000. It has a $35,000 paint option that makes it look like a stealth fighterplane or an SR-71 Blackbird spyplane. I have seen this car in person and it is just stunning! Hope this helps!

    Ciao!

Terry, I think his friend is looking for a 430 Scuderia, not the Scuderia 16m.
I took a look at photos of the Quebec 16m, and it does look like a cool color.

Danny, my point was that: I don't buy a car expecting it to go up in value because of low production numbers or collectibility. I buy a car because I like it & want to drive it and enjoy it.

If you are so happy with your Scuderia, that you decide to keep it forever; that's great.
But would you be unhappy or disappointed, if say, you decided to sell your Scud for some reason in 5 years and you actually were going to lose money on it? (Let's say they are worth 150k or less in 5 years......How would you feel about it then?)

Is your reason for owning your Scud an expectation to sell it for more than you paid for it?, or is it to enjoy your amazing car for what it is?

I hope you drive and enjoy your car in the same way that I do mine. ;)

275K for a Scud is absolutely insane. That is *new* MP4-12C money, or Italia money.

This is a good post. Southern Ontario and most Canadians are just simply completely out of touch with reality. Lets see, I'm sitting in Toronto steakhouses every week and you can walk into all the top ones Barberiens, Harbour 60 etc without reservations and find them operating at 30-40% capacity at max. Southern Ontario = one massive real estate/credit bubble that going to burst. People still thinking their Scuds are worth 300G. Next downleg Canadians are going to be drowning.

I just saw a 09 Scud black with stripe sell for 195G US with 800miles 1 owner with December 2009 delivery(I think one of LAST for US market). Friend was too cheap to bid the extra 5G. Will have to wait for spring now. Good conversations here though.

Its not the dealerships, or sellers fault..they are just trying to retain the money lost when the market prices are falling for these cars. Thats why there are a dozen Scuds for sale on EBAY now....why spend that kind of money when you can get the 458 or Mclaren MP4-12? You are exactly right..

IMHO....Buying/owning any new 458, 430 Scud etc is like holding onto a ticking money bomb, you gotta pass it off before it explodes. Better to buy a gently used one at half price. $195 is a great deal for 800 mile Scud. I think it will take a few years until they reach the $150k mark, so your net loss is over a longer period compared to buying new.
