Not too sure of the proper name for this...think it may be known as MASHing. (It is located at jaXed.com)
It is a website which scans Craiglist databases in an entire region of the country.
While it defeats the main reason for Craigslist existance, of face to face transactions,
it seem to prove a good tool for finding that something special

To use it, you must first specify a major catagory (box at left), like cars, camera, or watches.
Specify (by pulldown) the brand or manufacturer (you can type the first letter, like f, to speed the pulldown to ferrari).
Then specify (by pulldown) the state or section of the country to be searched, such as state of major region or leave it blank for everywhere.
    Enter years if applicable.
    Click 'GO'

This link is setup for searching for ferrari
    http://www.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=cp&itm=ferrari&loc=&fil=&ys=&ye=&submit=++++go++++

Just plugged in my own car, 1980 308 and find it pulls up ebay listings as well. Gives a good overview of asking prices.

    Very interesting ajax website. Thanks.

Another way to search for something specific across all the craigslist cities is to use the "site" feature of google.
For example, the google search "ferrari 328 site:craigslist.org" will find all the 328 listings in the various cities.

Each city on craigslist uses a subdomain prefix, e.g. "phoenix.craigslist.org" which is why they are all searchable if the site parameter references only the primary domain name part of the URL.

Here is a link to click on to see how it works:

I am glad someone beat me to the punch on this - long needed, yet CL continues to discourage it (unknown as to WHY). I've been using the Jaxed Mash, but the SearchAllCraigslist looks promising!

Not sure if anyone know this but Craigslist shut down Jaxed with a cease & desist order. What a shame, this was such a great search engine.

Jaxed was slow to pick up the new listings. If you really wanted to be on top of new ones it was too slow anyway. It was good for an overall scan to see what was new within say the last day.

Jaxed worked much better -- it listed actual cars (rather than tons of parts in addition to cars).

Jaxed sometimes would miss new or older ads, but was easily the best of the searches.

http://www.searchtempest.com/ is another one that works OK, but not great.

This sucks. I will now cease and desist from searching local Craigslist sites, since the lack of global search is ridiculous.

How could Craigslist be so stupid? They will impact their own business as a result...lame.

It was set up as a local search tool and apparently they still want it that way.
